Roger Hume of Hume Development Inc plans to renovate a historic office building at 700 J St in Downtown Sacramento, California, transforming it into the boutique Hotel Eleanor with 95 guestrooms. The estimated cost is $30 million and includes a restaurant and spa. City officials are currently reviewing the proposed plans, and no brand has been announced yet. The ground floor will feature the Oak Room—a 2,725-square-foot bar and restaurant—along with a banquet hall and private dining space. In the basement, an old bank vault will become a speakeasy called The Heist, offering a lounge and private dining area. Additional amenities in the basement include a prep kitchen and a wellness/fitness center with a spa.
