The Surfliner Inn, a boutique hotel proposed for downtown Carpinteria, California has been approved by the Carpinteria planning commission. The hotel would occupy the eastern portion of City Parking Lot #3 at 499 Linden Avenue, near Linden Avenue and Fifth Street. Plans call for 36 guest rooms, a café and restaurant, a rooftop lounge and pool, and event space. The proposal also includes new public parking, improved coastal trail access, and enhanced landscaping at City Parking Lots #3 and #4. The site previously held a two-story Southern Pacific Railroad building that was razed in the late 1960s.
