Hotel development and management company McMenamins is planning to renovate the Taft building in downtown Portland, Oregan converting it to a boutique hotel. McMenamins acquired the property at 1321 S.W. Washington St. in 2024 for $1.5 million. The new hotel will include: 63 guest-rooms, a gift shop, three restaurants/bars and a skybridge that will link it to the Crystal Ballroom to uphold the company’s vision of a walkable urban entertainment district. Two existing establishments in the building the restaurant Cassidy’s and the bar Scooter’s will remain open during and after the renovation.
