Developer MCR is proposing to build two new hotels next to its Hilton Airport Blue Lagoon Miami, Florida Hotel. MCR, filed a pre-application with Miami-Dade County to build on the 20.6-acre property at 5101 Blue Lagoon Drive. It currently has a 14-story, 508-room hotel that was developed on the waterfront site in 1983. MCR would build two additional hotels, each with 200 rooms in eight stories. To make up for the removal of surface parking, it would construct a five-story, 700-space garage for the existing Hilton, plus two four-story, 140-space garages to serve the new hotels. The new hotels would be select service and contain no restaurant or meeting room space. Attorney David J. Coviello, is representing MCR in the application. Behar Font Partners is designing the project.
