Hotel developer Baywood Hotels plans to build a 116 guest room AC Marriott Hotel in East Memphis Tennessee. The five story hotel is proposed for 6584 Poplar Avenue. The existing lot is vacant and is next to a commercial property to the south. The two-acre parcel of land is located behind Plough Towers and between the Memphis Jewish Community Center and Poplar Place Townhomes. Construction of East Memphis’ AC Hotels by Marriott will begin in 2024, with an opening date planned for 2025. LLW Architects PC is the architect for the project, while no general contractor has been selected at this time. Nimesh Patel is senior vice president of Baywood Hotels.

Restaurant and bar owner Lost Hospitality, is planning to convert a historic building in Cincinnati Ohio’s Over-the-Rhine’s neighborhood into a boutique hotel. The Germania building, located at 1127 Walnut St., will be transformed into a 28-room boutique hotel following a $7 million renovation. The hotel, which is currently unnamed, could open as early as winter 2024. James Fisher, is the CEO with Lost Hospitality.

Developer AdVenture Development LLC plans to build a new Hampton Inn & Suites hotel in the North Hills in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prospera Hospitality will manage the Hampton Inn when completed. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2024. It will be located near McCandless Crossing, a mixed-use center that Adventure both developed and manages. AdVenture Development President is Kevin Dougherty.

The Menlo Park California Planning Commission has approved four architectural plans for Willow Village in San Mateo County. The city reviewed Safdie Architect’s glass-domed meeting and collaboration space, the town square, the office campus, hotel, and two apartment buildings. Signature Development Group is the project developer led by president Michael Ghielmetti. The 59-acre masterplan has a grand vision for 1.2 million square feet of offices and around 1,700 units of housing interlaced with retail, a hotel, and public open space. Hart Howerton is Master Planner and lead mixed-use architect. Pickard Chilton is the office architect, and Safdie is Meeting & Collaboration Space architect. Construction of Willow Village is expected to last over several phases and many years. Once complete, the project aims to achieve LEED Gold Certification.

Developer Jake Palillo of Bi-Part Development is planning a $800 million mixed use project that will include a resort and swimmable lagoon at a 263 acre site off Sam Furr Road in Huntersville, North Carolina. The project would start construction by mid-2024, with the first pieces open in spring 2025. Lagoona Bay would include parcels off Sam Furr, Westmoreland, Black Farms and McCord roads. Its Lagoona Bay Beach Club would center around a 10-acre turquoise lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches. Plans call for an up to 300-room luxury hotel, complete with a 35,000-square-foot convention center. A rooftop restaurant and bar is planned. The beach club will sit on roughly 40 acres, with a clubhouse, pools, tennis and pickleball courts as well as amenities from fitness classes to remote-work space and babysitting services. Public space will allow for events such as Christmas markets and concerts. The project also calls for 250 single-family, high-end homes. There also will be 320 apartments, 201 townhomes and 412 condo units at the site, according to plans. The project’s second phase would add 210,000 square feet of restaurants and retail concepts. Housing Studio and Urban Design Partners are the projects designers.

Developer Tom Intrator of 18 Main is proposing to build a Dream branded Hotel at 122 S Main Street in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Plans for the $99 million project located at 122 S Main Street at the former site of Royal Furniture store were recently filed with the Design Review Board. The main entrance to the hotel plus its restaurant and bar are to face South Main Street, per the renderings in the application. Most of that side of the property is to be preserved. The eastern portion of the site is where the new hotel tower will stand, as well as an outdoor seating area for the hotel’s cafe and lobby. The project is being designed by architect LRK. Construction is planned to start later this year.

Developers West Park Investments and TA Partners LLC are proposing to build a new hotel in Fullerton, California at the southeast corner of Pomona Ave and Santa Fe Ave.  The proposed hotel would include 125 guestrooms a restaurant and parking garage with 375 spaces.  Fullerton Station, located adjacent to the project site, will also be accommodated by the developer in adding updated infrastructure in the form of signage and minor improvements toward landscaping. The city has a handful of motels and lodging throughout. Two of the more notable hotels, the Fullerton Marriott and DoubleTree by Hilton, are within walking distance of Cal State Fullerton’s campus. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2026.

Hotel developer Silver Cloud Inns & Hotels is returning to Bellevue Washington with plans for a 10-story, 170-room hotel downtown. Silver Cloud acquired the half-acre property at 200 108th St. NE in 2013 for $7 million. It currently has a Luther Burbank Savings branch on the site. The bank would be demolished to build the new hotel.   The company operates four hotels in Seattle, two in Tacoma, one in Mukilteo and one in Portland. It also recently acquired two properties just north of its Silver Cloud Stadium hotel in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood. James Korbein is CEO of Silver Cloud.

A hotel developer is planning to build a Marriott branded TownePlace Suites Hotel at 101 N Providence Rd in Chesterfield, Virginia. The project is being proposed by Rivi Patel, CEO of Sina Hospitality. The 95 guest room, four-story TownePlace Suites hotel would be situated, just off Midothian Turnpike near the Powhite Parkway interchange. TownePlace Suites is a Marriott brand of extended-stay hotels. Sina hopes to start construction on the $15 million hotel in the second quarter of 2024. Harlan Construction is the project’s general contractor. Architect Edward Eiche is the designer of the hotel. The project’s engineering firm is The Site Design Co.

Developers are planning to build a SpringHill Suites Hotel in Grover Beach, California. The new hotel location is at 950 El Camino Real, adjacent to Oxford Suites, just east of the busy Five Cities Drive and North 4th Street intersection. The project has been in the works for many years, dating all the way back to 2007. Over the past several years, the hotel has undergone many different design concepts. The proposed 130 guestroom hotel is being built by Excel Hotel Group. Work on the Springhill Suites hotel is expected to take about 18 months and should be ready to open in early 2025.
