The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and Red Hawk Casino began construction on the Red Hawk Casino hotel in Placerville California. The hotel ground-breaking launches the first physical expansion of Red Hawk Casino since its opening in December 2008. The Red Hawk Casino hotel is developed and designed by Williams and Paddon Architects and Planners, and constructed by Level 10 Construction and Avanti Builders Inc. The nearly 120,000-square-foot hotel will feature five stories with 150 guest rooms, including 25 suites. Additionally, the Red Hawk Casino hotel will offer guests a stunning outdoor terrace with a pool, along with a fitness center. The hotel project is slated for completion by fall 2022 and will include modern designs with traditional tribal elements. Bryan DeLugo is CEO of the Red Hawk Casino.

The owners of the River shopping center in Rancho Mirage California are proposing to build a four story 110 guestroom hotel with an outdoor pool, two outdoor areas, 125 parking spaces and other associated improvements landscaping and a new entry from Las Palmas Drive. The hotel would be built on the northeast side of the River parking lot. The project faces opposition from the city commission but the owners are starting to work on improvements in order to get the project approved.

Hotel del Coronado in San Diego California construction projects are in full swing as the National Historic Landmark undergoes a major renovation as part of its $400 million master plan. Full completion is expected in late 2022 and includes five main components: a new main entryway; underground parking; conference center; 142 new guest rooms; and improvements to Avenida del Sol and along Orange Avenue. The main entrance project restores the former main entryway with the original front porch restoration and a long and landscaped driveway into the property from Avenida del Sol. The front porch is expected to open next month, and the main entry this summer. Two underground parking garages allow the construction of the conference center on top of one structure with 1,179 spaces. The north parking structure is complete, and the south parking structure will open in 2022. The Southpointe Center will be a modern meeting and conference event space featuring a 15,000-square-foot ballroom that can be configured into 10 spaces leading to outdoor balconies. The conference center is estimated to open in 2022. The 142 new rooms will be included in the Shore House at The Del, a residential-style building with its own guests and owners, along Avenida del Sol. Estimated completion is 2022. Upgrades to Avenida del Sol include new curbs and gutters, sidewalks, lighting, a raising of the street near the beach end, and a new signalized intersection that will help with traffic control when the entrance opens. The signal may be activated as soon as July 7. The street improvements will be completed later this year. The Hotel del Coronado is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.

The former Clarion Inn hotel at the Tulsa, Oklahoma International Airport is being demolished to make way for the new construction of a 100 guestroom Hilton branded hotel. The new, four-story facility will be either a Hampton Inn or a Home2 Suites and feature meeting rooms, a swimming pool and fitness center. Developer Promise Hotels, who operated the Clarion for about 10 years, also owns the Hilton Garden Inn, across the street is proposing the hotel. Pete Patel is the CEO of Promise Hotels. Demolition on the Clarion is set to be finished by Aug. 1. Construction on the new hotel is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2022, with completion expected in 2023.

Hotel developer LodgeWorks is proposing to build the Archer Resort, a 188 room hotel and 22 apartment off Art Barn Road in Uptown in Sedona, Arizona. The development would connect to N. SR 89A at the new Owenby Way roundabout.  All of the housing units are proposed to be deed restricted for affordability. During the comprehensive review, the applicant will need to provide details regarding how the afford­able housing units will be restricted for affordability and from becoming short-term rentals, a city report states. The resort itself would sit on 6 acres with the rest of the property being untouched. This is due to the fact that the remaining 13 acres sit primarily in the floodplain. Mike Daood is president of LodgeWorks.

Developer Daniel Rezko, CEO of DAC Developments has proposed a 19-story building in the West Loop that would include apartments and a hotel. The project which would be located at: 1217 W Washington Blvd in Chicago, Illinois requires a zoning change that was applied for by attorney Michael Ezgur. The proposal calls for up to 288 rental units plus hotel that would occupy half the building. Melrose Ascension Capital is partner on the $95 million project.

Veteran Services USA is proposed to redevelop the Crowne Plaza Southern Hills in Tulsa Oklahoma converting the property into a mixed use development including a hotel, serviced residences and assisted living. The VSUSA closed on the purchase of the property last week which is located at 7902 S Lewis Ave. The new development will include a Radisson Hotel and 160 united of affordable and market rate apartments for veterans. A restaurant and adult daycare are also part of the plans. Lockwood Asset Management is the development partner whose CEO is Charles Everhardt.

The Mayflower Mountain Resort a four star ski resort hotel has broken ground in Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Once open, the 642,000-square-foot conference hotel will include a block of 100 rooms that will be available at a preferred rate for active duty and retired service members. In addition, there will be a tax for regular guests that will go towards Hill Air Force Base’s MWR account. The conference hotel will be branded and has been designed to include 387 hotel rooms and suites, 55 private residences, and more than 60,000 square feet of pre-conference, banquet space and conference services. Amenities include restaurants, a coffee shop and deli, a fitness center, a pool, ski lockers, and underground parking. The hotel site is located within Deer Valley Resort planned expansion to include seven new ski lifts located east of and next to Park City. In addition, estate lots and townhomes within two communities, totaling approximately 300 residences, are being platted. Ski lifts and snowmaking are engineered, and grading and clearing will begin in the fall of 2021. Jacobsen Construction, the general contractor, expects to complete construction of the MWR conference hotel in 30 months, with the opening slated for December 2023. The hotel construction is expected to cost about $390 million. Paul Morris is executive director of MIDA (Military Installation and Development Authority).
