The Westland Michigan planning commission approved a plan by developer John Hambrick to split the 16-acre Eloise historic property and convert a portion of it to a hotel and event space. The Eloise complex is located at 30712 Michigan Ave in Westland Michigan. A key feature on the redeveloped property would include a hotel and event space, with a 1930s-themed restaurant and bar in the basement. The power plant and bakery buildings on will be demolished, and the firehouse will become a public space. The facility was last operated as the Wayne County General Hospital, and halted operations in 1984.

Strand Capital Group LLC will develop a 22-story, dual-branded hotel in downtown Atlanta Georgia. The new Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham and Club Wyndham hotel will overlook Centennial Olympic Park and will be situated within walking distance of the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. The hotel will offer 200 rooms and is expected to be delivered in early 2022. The property will offer one-bedroom standard and one-, two- and three-bedroom deluxe and presidential configurations. The rooms will feature living and dining areas, kitchenettes or fully equipped kitchens, and a Frozen Concoction Maker frozen drink machine in the Margaritaville suites. An undisclosed number of suites will be reserved for timeshares. Upon completion, Wyndham Destinations will acquire units at the property and manage the sales and marketing of the timeshares.

The proposed Barefoot Beach Hotel on the north side of Bonita Beach Road has been approved by the city of Bonita Springs Florida. Council also approved a rezoning that allows construction of a 202-room hotel, complete with parking garage, restaurant, commercial space and less than 20 residential units close to the beach. Barefoot Beach Hotel is a 4.75-acre project on the north side of Bonita Beach Road between Imperial River Road and Okeana Street. It sits about 1.5 miles from the Bonita Beach Park entrance. The hotel rooms will be split between two buildings, one with additional retail space and another hosting fewer than 20 condos. A separate parking garage will fit behind the main five-story building to the north, shielding it from drivers on Bonita Beach Road. The hotel is designed by City Design & Graphics and is being developed by Hospman Hospitality Management Services LLC.

The Schuett Companies is renovating the residential units, basement and exterior of the downtown Bismarck North Dakota Patterson Hotel.   Schuett Companies received a historic tax credit through the National Park Service to restore the exterior of Patterson Place. The company will receive an income tax credit worth 20% of the rehabilitation project’s cost. Tom Schuett is President of Schuett Companies. The building is being restored to its historic character and as part of the project and the basement will be part of the Peacock Alley restaurant expansion. All 117 residential units will also be updated. AWH Architects is designing the project. The renovations are scheduled to be completed at the end of 2020.

The city of Manchester New Hampshire approved a plan to develop the long-vacant Parkade shopping center into a 23-acre mixed use hotel, residential and retail center. The $140 million commercial and residential project plan calls for 480 apartments, a 120-room hotel, 98,000 square feet of office space and 63,00 square feet of retail space on 23 acres. The project is being developed by Manchester Parkade I. The company’s principals are developer Michael Licamele, and Harry Freeman.

Fairfax County Planning Commission approved a comprehensive sign plan for the new Archer Hotel in western McLean on the edge of Tysons Virginia. The developer Lynne Strobel or Tysons LW Hotel Associates LP is building the hotel on 0.75 acres south of Dolley Madison Boulevard at 7599 Colshire Drive. Construction on the hotel is planned to finish next summer. The 178-room hotel will be seven stories and have a 7,082-square-foot full-service restaurant called Almanac, as well as an attached, independent retail space. The hotel and other businesses will be built atop a two-level parking structure.

Plans to remodel the Coast Inn in Laguna Beach, California are moving forward. The hotel is owned Chris Dornin of Dornin Investment Group. The project will return the building to its 1927 Spanish Colonial Revival style. The Bear Flag Fish Co, a fast-casual restaurant and fish market, will take over the space that was once the Boom Boom Room and a rooftop deck will add a third story. The hotel will have 24 rooms, the same number it has had since the 1930s.   Construction of the $25 million project is planned to begin next year.

Developer Pegasus Partners is proposing to build a residential building and separate hotel at a 1.83 acre parcel at 1300 Jefferson Street in Hoboken New Jersey. The project is being designed by Fogerty Finger Architects. The tiered structure would sport a five-story podium section that includes the 304-space parking component, while the remainder of the building incorporates sections of 11, 16, and 18 stories. 357 apartments would be included and the residences currently break down as 30 studios, 120 one-bedrooms, 182 two-bedrooms, and 25 three-bedrooms. Amenities at the building would include several active roof terraces along the building’s tiers, a gym, and a pool on the 17th floor. At the street level, 24,526-square feet of retail space split between four storefronts would be featured, as would a 5,234-square foot plaza for public use along the 13th Street side of the residential portion. The hotel will include 281 guestrooms and would rise 16 stories. The residential and hotel plans will still need to be approved by the city’s planning board before ground can be broken.

Developer JB Leamer is planning to build a 74 guest room boutique hotel in the Oxbow area in Napa California. The project is proposed as part of the Oxbow Gateway project on First Street spread across a pair of four story buildings.  Each building at First and Oxbow would contain 37 guest rooms, with space for street-level retail stores and two levels of underground parking. The complex would include an interior courtyard and private terraces, along with a swimming pool, spa, fitness center, conference and meeting space, and a cafe featuring a sculpture garden. The project is in the planning with the final approval pending the city council’s decision.

Summa Development Group has filed plans to build a mixed use tower in downtown Orlando Florida that would include a 5-star hotel and condos to open in late 2023. The developer has a contract on a 7-parcel assemblage across from its 24-story Citi Tower apartment building at 101 Lake Ave. The submitted plans include a 228-key luxury convention hotel with more than 60,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space on three floors and a Sky Club on the 33rd floor with a pool and outdoor dining.
 
The first floor would feature two restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating, separate lobbies for both the hotel and convention center and 14,310 square feet of public space. The hotel rooms would be located on six floors above the eight-level parking garage. The ninth floor includes a spa and shared amenities, with a gym, outdoor fitness center, lap pool, hot tub and cabanas. The project goes to the city’s Municipal Planning Board in September.
