Developers plan to build a WoodSpring Suites hotel at 2050 Watchorn St. in Durham, North Carolina. Site plans have been filed for the extended stay hotel on a vacant lot at the corner of Ellis Street just east of Interstate 885. The property is part of a larger mixed-use development called Marketplace at Ellis Crossing. The Publix-anchored shopping center is owned by developer Thompson Thrift. The firm is working with Raleigh-based hotelier Concord Hospitality on the project. A new site plan filing was submitted to the city at the end of September, showing 124 hotel rooms in a building totaling 53,711 square feet. The WoodSpring Suites brand offers extended-stays and is owned by Choice Hotels. The brand has over 200 locations across the country.
