Extell Development Co. and Hyatt Hotels Corp. will build a 1,800-room hotel at 255 W. 45th St. in Times Square, New York City, as part of the Torch mixed-use tower. Opening is set for the second half of 2028 under the name The StandardX Times Square, the first North American location of StandardX, a spin-off of The Standard Hotels. Planned features include an enclosed free-fall thrill ride, an observation deck more than 1,000 feet above Manhattan, a rooftop pool, and several restaurants, bars, and nightlife venues. ODA is the architect, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor.
