William E. Heinecke, founder and chairman of Minor International, recently confirmed an ambitious expansion strategy for India, marking the country as a critical growth market for the global hospitality group. With the successful debut of Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur in 2024, Minor Hotels is deepening its presence through upcoming properties in Kolkata and Coorg, and plans to add several more under its premium Anantara and contemporary Avani brands. Heinecke emphasised that while the group remains asset-heavy, it is moving towards an “asset-right” model—balancing ownership and management agreements to drive sustainable growth. Highlighting India’s rising demand for wellness and luxury travel, he also hinted at future potential for brands like Tivoli and NH. The company currently manages over 640 hotels across 63 countries and aims to establish a strong, long-term footprint in the Indian subcontinent.William E.
