The city of New Orleans Louisiana is considering plans for a hotel at the corner of Frenchmen and Decatur streets. Properties owners Frenchmen Decatur LLC wants to renovate the vacant three-story building at 502 Frenchmen St. into a 43-unit hotel. The Greek Revival building, built in the early 1800s, has historically operated with commercial uses on the ground floor and residential dwellings above it. The building has 23,600 square feet, and the proposed additions would bring the space to 30,900 square feet. The 4,330 penthouse addition on the fourth floor would add nine units. Suites on the second and third floor would be increased from 7 to 17 units. Mike Motwani is listed as one of the officers of Frenchmen Decatur LLC. Motwani owns many properties in the French Quarter. Land use attorney Mike Sherman, represents Frenchmen Decatur LLC. The project is still in its early stages and would need to receive final approval from the Historic District Landmarks Commission. Rozas Ward the architect for the project.
