Nigro Development held a ceremonial groundbreaking for a 127-room SpringHill Suites, located at Decatur Boulevard just north of the 215 Beltway in the southern Las Vegas Nevada. The four-story project is scheduled to be finished in early 2023. Michael Nigro is president of Nigro. The firm’s other hotel projects include a Residence Inn on St. Rose Parkway in Henderson and a Fairfield Inn & Suites on Sky Pointe Drive in the northwest valley, both of which were completed in 2019. Nigro also broke ground in fall 2020 on a 119-room TownePlace Suites at Nexus Way and Lamb Boulevard in North Las Vegas. That hotel is scheduled to open this spring.

Construction of making progress at the 96 guestroom Villages Home 2 Suites Hotel, located at 755 Penrose Place in Wildwood Florida. The hotel will be managed by McKibbon Hospitality who recently named James House as general manager. Upon completion, House will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the 96-room hotel under construction on County Road 466A across from Pinellas Plaza in The Villages. The hotel will be an anchor for the 154-acre Beaumont development next to Trailwinds Village. Carrie Duncan is vice president of operations for McKibbon. The hotel’s primary developer is Liberty Group. The extended-stay hotel will offer spacious and modern accommodations with in-room kitchenettes and additional amenities aimed at providing guests with a home-away-from-home experience, including complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Developers are moving forward with plans for a luxury Peabody Hotel in Roanoke Texas. Peabody Hotels and Resorts a subsidiary of Belz Enterprises has set a spring start date for the project. The eight-story, 261-room hotel with a 40,000-square-foot convention space would open in 2024, according to planning documents filed with the state. The project will cost more than $100 million. The Peabody Hotel would be built with support from the city of Roanoke.

A proposed boutique hotel in Worthington Ohio adjacent to the historic Snow House property at 41 W. New England Ave. is another step closer to development. The property was added to the city’s Community Reinvestment Area by Worthington City Council on Feb. 7, clearing the way for developers to apply for a property-tax abatement from the city. By doing so, developers could receive up to a 75% property-tax abatement on the property. The hotel is being planned by Kevin Royhans of the New England Development Company. The project would include 50 guestrooms.

Hotel developer Coral Tree Hospitality plans a hotel to be built adjacent to the Air Force Academy’s planned new visitors center as a one-of-a- kind iconic property that will pay tribute to flight in Colorado Springs Colorado.  The 375-room hotel will become as linked to the academy. The hotel, to be built just east of the academy’s north gate, will feature a wellness spa, rooftop bar, a full-service restaurant, cafe, business center and gift shop and an outdoor lawn, pool and sundeck. But what will really set the hotel apart from others will be its two flight simulators in the lobby. The simulators will reproduce the flight deck of a Boeing 737 aircraft with seats, throttles, switches, pedals and yoke from an aircraft of the same model. The name of the hotel will not be selected for another three or four months. It will not carry a national brand. The project will be financed by $250 million in bonds that were sold Jan. 31 through underwriter RBC Capital Markets, along with another $90 million in bonds for the visitors center. Construction on roads and utilities in the 57-acre site, called True North Commons, is expected to begin by April with the hotel and visitors center underway a few months later. Both projects are expected to open in early 2024 with office buildings and restaurants planned in later development phases. Silver Development Partners, headed by Dan Schnepf, a founding partner of Matrix Design Group is developing the visitors center. Provident Resources Group, a nonprofit that specializes in housing, health care and education facilities, is developing the hotel and the rest of True North Commons. Coral Tree operates 23 hotels and resorts, including the Magnolia Denver and Ptarmigan Inn in Steamboat Springs. FAndré Fournier is executive vice president of Coral Tree Hospitality.

Developer NOSC LLC is proposing the Margaritaville Resort project has moved forward by the planning commission in Ocean City Maryland which encompasses over 12 different lots would include 265 hotel rooms and three restaurants, including the JWB Grill with high-end steaks and seafood, the Landshark Bar and Grill and a coffee shop and provisions store in the lobby. The project would also include three outdoor pools and one indoor pool, a wellness center and gym, 14,000 square feet of flexible convention space, retail stores facing the Boardwalk and many other upscale amenities. The project would encompass the entire city block downtown on the oceanside facing the Boardwalk between 13th Street and 14th Street. The project is being designed by Becker Morgan Group. The developer’s attorney is Hugh Cropper.

Property owner Galvan, led by vice president Dan Kent is planning to convert a historic property to a 30 guestroom boutique hotel in Hudson New York.  The 20,000-square foot, three-story hotel, which is to be located on Warren Street, the city’s commercial center. The plan, would rehabilitate two vacant apartment buildings, with additions connecting and expanding the structures. The hotel would include a restaurant, two-story bar and 900 square feet of retail space.

Developer Reneson Hotels plans have been approved to build a hotel at 56 Madera Vlvd in Corte Madera California.  The 110-room hotel and restaurant are on a 5.53-acre lot between Tamal Vista Boulevard and Highway 101. The new hotel would be a 149-room Residence Inn with a mix of three- and four-story sections, standing 47-feet at the highest point. The project would comply with the tier 1 requirements of the California green building standards code. The site would have 169 parking stalls, including six accessible spaces and 14 with electric vehicle charging capabilities. The environmental report considered impacts to aesthetics, air quality, biological resources, geology and soils, determining that all impacts could be mitigated to less-than-significant. Garrett Grialou is president of Reneson Hotels.

A new plan to replace the Red Roof Inn in Newark, Delaware with a more modern extended-stay hotel is working its way through Newark’s development approval process. SSN Hotels, which operates more than 20 hotels in the region, plans to demolish the motel at 1119 S. College Ave. and replace it with a six-story Home2 Suites by Hilton. The 126-room hotel would have parking on the first level and five floors of hotel rooms above, as well as a pool and patio. SSN is also planning a convenience store and gas station at the site, but it will be considered under a separate plan that has not yet been submitted to the city. The Red Roof Inn was built in the 1960s as a Howard Johnson Hotel.

Developers are planning to build a new Residence Inn by Marriott Hotel MetroCenter located at 261 French Landing Drive in Nashville Tennessee. The hotel will contain 114 guestrooms and two 2,500 sf meeting spaces and 4,000 sf restaurant. The developer is MetroCenter Partnership LLC a subsidiary of Imagine Hospitality. The project is being design by Elevate Architecture Studio and Brooker Construction Group is the general contractor. Kal Patel is the CEO of Imagine Hospitality.
