Siesta Key Hotel Project Moves Forward

Sarasota County Florida’s Commissioners have approved developers Robert Anderson’s proposed 170-room, eight-story hotel on just under an acre of land near Siesta Key Beach Resort and Suites on Calle Miramar. The project also includes a three-level, 223-space parking garage, a restaurant and a rooftop pool and bar. Traffic is proposed to come and go along Calle Miramar. The project’s architect is Mark Sultana of DSDG Architecture.

Element Hotel Proposed for Uptown

An Element Hotel by Westin is planned for 2430 Louisiana Blvd NE in uptown Albuquerque New Mexico. Construction of the 120 guestroom, 86,335 square foot hotel is to begin next month and take two years to complete. The property is being developed by Allen Sigmon Real Estate Group, whose principles are Lance Sigmon and Brad Allen along with Total Management Systems, led by development manager, Adriana Gronager. The project is being designed by Base Architects & Engineers.

AC Marriott Hotel Planned on Colorado Blvd

A new hotel is being proposed on Colorado Blvd at the former Cordon Blue building and the parking lot across the street from Urth Café in Pasadena California at: 550-566 E Colorado Blvd. The proposal calls for an 85 foot tall, six story AC Marriott hotel with 195 guestrooms, with ground floor retail and dining space. The hotel is being proposed by the Welcome Group Inc. The site is owned by Chafles Company.

Extended Stay Hotel Planned for Canal Walk

Waterfront Canal Centre LLC, a limited liability company registered to Greg Schahet, president and CFO of developer Schahet Hotels, has filed plans with the city, seeking to redevelop the site at 401 W. Michigan St in Indianapolis Indiana into an extended stay hotel. Plans call for demolishing the American College of Sports Medicine’s current 30,000-square-foot building. Going vertical in its place would be an 11-story mixed use building and plaza, consisting of 75,000-square-feet of new office space and a hotel bearing The Element hotel flag, an extended-stay brand by Marriott. The plaza also would have a 240-space parking garage. Construction is to begin in mid-2022. The project total costs have yet to be finalized as the construction contractor is repricing the project. The hotel is being designed by Ratio Architects.

$300M Casino Resort Planned at First American Museum

The Chickasaw Nation will start construction next year on a $300 million casino resort featuring a hotel, water park and more near the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Nation will start construction next year on the development known as the OKANA Resort. The resort will include a 400-room hotel, an indoor/outdoor water park, and retail, dining and conference facilities. The project is being design by Thalden Boyd Emery Architects.

Hotel Mixed Use Project Planned for Miracle Mile

A multi-use development including a hotel, apartments and retail is being planned for La Brea Ave. at Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles California. CGI+ Real Estate Strategies has secured full entitlements and plans to start developing nearly half a city block at 639 S. La Brea, adjacent to where the Metro’s Wilshire/La Brea station is under construction. The eight-story development will include a 125-key hotel, 121 residential units, and 13,000 square feet of street level and rooftop restaurant space. The boutique-style hotel will aim to draw both leisure and business travelers with rooms ranging from 320 to 415 square feet, as well as two top-floor guest suites as large as 1,200 square feet. Plans also include a 3,500-square-foot event space and a layered roof top guest deck and swimming pool with views of Downtown Los Angeles, the Hollywood Hills and Century City. Architecture and interior design firm Morris Adjmi is designing the project.

Spanish Baroque Hotel Planned at Lensic Arts Center

A 70 guestroom Spanish Baroque style is planned to be built on the parking lot between the Lensic Performing Arts Center and Eldorado Hotel & Spa in Santa Fe New Mexico. The $28 million project will start construction in early 2022 and is expected to open in the summer of 2023. The four-story, 70-room hotel will be located in the surface parking lot next to the Lensic and across Sandoval Street from the Eldorado Hotel & Spa. Seres Architecture of Santa Fe is the project architect. Joseph Karnes, an attorney at Sommer, Karnes & Associates representing Greer Enterprises, which has owned the property for more than 100 years and originally developed what is today the Lensic Performing Arts Center. The hotel name is pending agreement with an operator.

Mixed Hotel, Apartments & Hospital Project Planned

Beacon Health System the parent of Memorial Hospital is planning a $300 million expansion project including a new patient tower, apartments, a hotel and a health club in downtown South Bend Indiana. Plans include an estimated $240 million expansion at Memorial, as well as construction of a $60 million Integrative Health and Lifestyle District just south of the hospital. The hospital expansion could get underway almost immediately, with a target completion date of June 30, 2026. While that project is underway, Beacon, in conjunction with Great Lakes Capital and Bradley Co., is proposing to build a complex that would include 145 apartments, a health club, a 125-room hotel, 35,000 square feet of office and retail space, and parking for 1,200 vehicles. The complex would take up the 300 and 400 blocks of North Main Street, which is mostly surface parking now. The target completion date would be Dec. 31, 2025.

Union Pacific Building Hotel Conversion Planned

Developers plan to add a hotel onto the back of the historic Union Pacific building downtown in Salt Lake City Utah. The project is being planned by the Athens Group that will convert the building to a 225 guestroom hotel, planned to open in 2024. The eight story 94 foot tall building will include 4 food and beverage outlets, 9,600 square feet of meeting space and 13 specialty suites located with the historic train station. The hotel will be branded as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel with the name Asher Adams.  The property is owned by Vestar Gateway LLC. Athens Hotel Development LLC is the developer. The architect is HKS Architects Inc. The civil engineer is Great Basin Engineering. The landscape architect is MGB+A The Grassli Group. The developers are currently securing financing for project construction.
