Drury Hotels Co. plans to build its largest property to date near Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. The company expects the 604-room Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista to open in spring 2021 and to fully open by year-end 2021. The hotel will include more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a pool, a splash pad, a poolside cantina bar and grill, a grab-and-go marketplace, a kitchen-and-bar concept, a business center and a fitness center. The hotel, located in the Disney Springs Resort Area, will be able to be booked as part of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package. The property will offer transportation to and from the theme parks, as well as to other surrounding attractions. Chuck Drury is president/CEO of Drury Hotels. The new Drury Hotel general manager is Mike Weihs, and Melissa Linkugel director of sales. The company expects the property will employ 150 full- and part-time employees once open.
