A new $23 million Hyatt House extended stay hotel is planned at the Woodward Corners by Beaumont development next door to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak Michigan. The five-story hotel will include 128 apartment-style rooms and is expected to open in 2021. The 77,824-square-foot hotel will feature units with kitchen suites, free Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor common areas, complimentary breakfast, a drinks and snacks bar, 24-hour gym and more than 800 square feet of meeting space. Dogs and cats are welcome, too. The Hyatt House is being developed by Colorado-based Pedersen Development Co. It will be managed by Maine-based Olympia Hotel Management. The development is being completed by West Bloomfield Township-based construction manager Tower Construction and Ann Arbor-based Hobbs + Black Architects. A boutique hotel will soon begin construction on a downtown Anchorage block that’s now home to the bus terminal and parking garages. 
Construction is expected to begin in May and finish in mid to late 2021. To speed up construction, rooms for the $60 million project will be pre-built in China. They will be shipped by barge to Anchorage, complete with furniture, art, plumbing, electrical and heating features. The building will also feature 32 one- and two-bedroom apartments, which will also be pre-built in China. Plans also call for a ground-floor restaurant, meeting space and other amenities. David Irwin of Irwin Development Group is building the project. EKN Development Group, from California, is also an investor. Tolles Development Company plans to build a Hyatt Place hotel at The Summit in South Reno Nevada. Par Tolles is CEO of Tolles Development Company. Pelzer Hospitality is project partner and will manage the hotel for the developers who plan to break ground in spring of this year. Steve Pelzer is CEO of Pelzer Hospitality. Other development partners include Bayer Properties, Azul Hospitality, Reno Engineering and DLW Architects. The 132-room Hyatt Place hotel will be located between the Jared Galleria of Jewelry store and Century Summit Sierra movie theater. A downtown redevelopment is planned the 100 block of Main Street in Mankato Minnesota and would dramatically redesign the City Center Hotel and the Landmark Center building on the other end of the block, resulting in 200 or more remodeled or new hotel rooms. Jon Kietzer of Century 21 Landmark Realty is the developer proposing the project that would convert the three-story office and apartment space in the Landmark Center to a 60-room boutique hotel called the Landmark Hotel. It would have a public outdoor garden dining area on the south side of the property and a restaurant on the ground floor on the corner of Main and Second streets. The adjacent City Center hotel would be renovated, resulting in 144 rooms and be convert to a Holiday Inn. The roof would be removed from the existing swimming pool area to make way for an open-air courtyard, with hotel rooms on both sides of the courtyard. The pool would be relocated. Slowey Management of Yankton, South Dakota, will manage the hotel. A $46 million AC Hotel by Marriott is planned at the Bonstelle Theatre development project in Detroit Michigan’s Brush Park neighborhood. Construction on the 10-story, 153-room hotel will start this summer and be complete by late 2021. The Detroit project includes a full renovation of the theater to its original 1903 Albert Kahn-designed exterior and 1925 C. Howard Crane-designed interior. It will also include a 4,000-square-foot glass conservatory fronting Woodward Avenue. The hotel is being developed by Roxbury Group and will be managed by Azul Hospitality Group. Design for the project is by Patrick Thompson Design. Christman Co. is the general contractor. David Di Rita is principal of the Roxbury Group. The hotel is a ground-up development to the north of the theater and will be connected to it via the glass conservatory. The Culinary Institute of America is planning to build a hotel on its Hyde Park campus in Poughkeepsie New York. The $98 million project, would be completed by real estate development firm Nolan Reynolds International and would include a 162-room hotel, eight villas, a restaurant, spa, event barn and other amenities including a swimming pool, fire pits and an outdoor dining area. The project is in the initial planning phase and developers have yet to submit a formal proposal to the town. A four hotel development is planned for Disney’s Flamingo Crossings a mixed-use property project that also includes retail and residential in Orlando Florida. The project, being developed by Doradus Partners who has secured its $140 million construction loan through Hall Structures Finance. Doradus Partners plans to build a total of 997 hotel rooms at the Disney owned property that will open early next year. Srinath Yedla is CEO of Doradus Partners. Yedla Management Company will manage the hotels. Downtown San Diego’s Solamar Hotel will be renovated and converted to a Margaritaville Hotel, and will open in 2021. The hotel will include 235 guest rooms and signature Margaritaville food and drink concepts for visitors. The renovation and full conversion of the hotel is expected to cost about $20 million. The hotel is owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust whose CEO is Jon Bortz. The Memphis Downtown Sheraton, is planning interior and exterior updates, a rebranding to Marriott and a 300-room expansion. Schulte Hospitality Group of Louisville and Starwood Capital Partners owns and manages the hotel. Schulte Hospitality Group president is Kevin Gallagher. Dream Hotel Group plans to open a 217-room, 25-story hotel to be called Dream San Antonio along the River Walk in San Antonio Texas. The boutique hotel is the centerpiece of a large mixed-use development that includes office space and private residences. The hotel will feature a rooftop pool deck, two street-level restaurants, fitness facilities, meeting space and a bar and lounge. The developer still is raising funds for the project but owns the land the hotel will be built on at 107 E. Martin St. The hotel developer hasn’t yet filed design plans with the Historic and Design Review Commission. Construction is expected to begin next year with a planned opening in 2023. CUBE3 Architects is designing the project.
