Developer 20401 Ventura, LLC, represented by Kamyar Marouni and Shahrzad Cohen are planning to build a 149 guestroom four story boutique hotel on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills California. The site is located at 20401 Ventura Blvd between Desoto and Winnetka Avenues. The hotel is being designed by North Hollywood design studio Architectural Dimensions, the project will be fronted by a ground-level café with patio. The 90,213-square-foot hospitality complex will also include meetings rooms, and 213 parking spaces on three subterranean levels. The hotel’s contemporary exterior will have interlacing metal and limestone, with wood paneling and Mondrian-esque stained-glass window patterns. The owners have scheduled an April groundbreaking, and take 19 months, with a tentative completion date of October 2022. No hotel brand has been selected.

An apartment building at John Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland will be renovated and converted to a new boutique hotel brand with the project beginning in the first quarter of 2021. The brand called The Study Hotel will be located at the corner of North Charles and East 33rd Street in what is the 11-story, 99-unit Blackstone apartment tower. John Hopkins owns the building and has formed a partnership with Study Hotels & Hospitality 3 to redevelop the property. Paul McGowan is president of Study Hotels.

Developer Hunt Realty Investments has unveiled plans for a 3.7 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Uptown Dallas Texas, The project will be developed on an 11-acre tract between North Field and North Houston streets that currently houses Hunt Realty’s Northend Apartments. The project will include commercial, office, retail, hotel and residential uses, as well as a 1.5-acre park and an urban arboretum. The project will be co-developed and owned in partnership with The Karahan Companies, Chief Partners and Cross Tie Capital. A construction timeline is still being finalized.

The Lake Nona Wave hotel in Orlando Florida is now under construction with a planned opening date in December of 2021. The 234-room luxury lifestyle hotel is located in the Lake Nona Town Center. The hotel is being developed by Tavistock Development Company and will be managed by CoralTree Hospitality whose president is Tom Luersen. The hotel is being designed by Arquitectonica. The hotel will also include 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Rasesh Thakkar is senior managing director of Tavistock. Balfour Beatty Construction is the project general contractor.

The Henderson Resort hotel is proposed to be built in Winterpark Florida. The project would include 132 guestrooms and be located at 250 Killarney Drive. The developers behind to project include: Adam Wonus owner of Atrium Management Company and Eric Holm, CEO of Metro Corral Partners LLC. The project is currently in the planning review process. The city commission is expected to take up the project on January 13th 2021.

Developer Satya has broken ground on a 350,000-square-foot Hyatt hotel in Houston’s Texas Medical Center. The 14-story dual-branded property, located in a Qualified Opportunity Zone at the corner of Old Spanish Trail and Fannin Street, will include a 159-key Hyatt Place and a 139-key Hyatt House. The hotel is within the sprawling Texas Medical Center, a 2.1-square-mile neighborhood with more than 60 medical institutions, about 7 miles south of downtown. which is to be completed in 2022. Guestrooms will offer in-room kitchens and living rooms, a 24-hour hotel dining area, a full-service restaurant and lobby café, two bars and a parking garage with more than 300 spaces. A seventh-floor amenity deck will offer 3,500 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and a guest laundry room. Satya CEO is Sunny Bathija.  The project team includes architect G2, project consultants HarDam Hotels and The Mathis Group, contractor E.E. Reed Construction and IBC Bank, which provided financing.

A Hyatt Place Hotel is being built near Fisherman’s Inn and Crab Deck on the waterfront at Kent Narrows in Grasonville Maryland. The project is being built by Mackenzie Commercial Real Estate and will be complete in the 3rd quarter of 2022. It will have a 5,000 sf conference center and 44 slip marina. Jody Schulz is leading the development partnership and is and the of the Fisherman’s Village complex. The project was financed by MacKenzie Capital LLC.

A new hotel has been approved for downtown Tuscaloosa Alabama. The 94-room Element by Westin hotel is planned for a hillside vacant lot at the intersection of 21st Avenue and Jack Warner Parkway. The hotel will be five stories including a basement and will be developed by Baywood Hotels Inc. It will include a fitness center, bar and dining areas, a bicycle borrowing program and charging station for electric vehicles. A total of 93 parking spaces are planned for the site and the structure itself is proposed to feature an all brick veneer façade, metal railings and metal frame windows. Construction will begin in the 2nd quarter of 2021.

Ketchum Idaho’s planning and Zoning met Tuesday to consider a proposal to add a new four-star hotel to the main gateway to the resort town. The Ketchum Marriott Tribute would sit at the corner of River St. and Main St., to the south of the Limelight Hotel and contain 92 guestrooms, a rooftop bar, a restaurant and conference and meeting space. The hotel is being designed by Justin Heppler of AJC Architects and developed by PEG Companies.

Under proposed plans an industrial site in the Derby City’s Old Louisville neighborhood would be repurposed to include apartments, a hotel and a grocery store, and other uses. Developer Vintage South Development, filed an application with Louisville Kentucky Metro Planning and Design Services to convert 32 acres at West Ormsby and West Magnolia avenues at the former Voght Machine Co. property into a mixed-use development. The address for the plan is 1000 W. Ormsby Ave and calls for 492 residential units, including a 552,000-square foot apartment building, a restaurant and retail space, a seven-story, 87-room hotel, a pool bar and lounge, multiple ballrooms, a brewery/distillery, a children’s museum and library, an entertainment venue, an office and museum building, a food-and-beverage complex, a grocery store and additional office and retail space. Vintage South Development founder is Nathan Lyons.
