Developer Northland Properties Corp is planning to build a 205 guestrooms, six story hotel at State Highways 114 and 161 in the Las Colinas area of Irving Texas. The hotel is part of the 36-acre Star Park mixed use development. The hotel will cost $20 million and include a 6,788 square foot 225 sear Moxie’s Grill restaurant with an outdoor patio. The hotel will be a-part of the Canada based Sandman Signature Hotel chain. The hotel is being designed by RedDot Studio.

Hotel developer Desai & Sons, Inc. has applied for a special permit to build a hotel at the corner of Riverdale Road (Route 5) and Elm Street in West Springfield Massachusetts. Raman Desai is the president of Desai & Sons. He is also the manager of Jaya Lodging and Ohm Hotels, two corporations that have owned or managed Candlewood Suites, 572 Riverdale Road in West Springfield. The lodging is planned for 764 Riverdale Street/1533 Elm Street – the site of a closed Vietnamese restaurant, which would be demolished. The hotel would be five-stories with 102 rooms. The application indicates the hotel would have an unnamed flag. The hotel plan was designed by VHB of Springfield.

The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe will start building a 80- to 100-room downtown Port Angeles Washington hotel after environmental and land-use hurdles are overcome. Project adviser Michael Peters, expects construction to begin the project by next summer and that the Elwha Hotel could open by about the end of 2022. The conditional use permit would allow the four-story hotel to exceed the city’s 45-foot height limit, as have the nearby Field Arts & Events Hall off West Front Street, which is under construction. The facility, which will be independently owned by the tribe, will include a swimming pool and a restaurant with outdoor seating areas.

Developer Type Six Design & Development has received zoning approval to build a six story hotel Indigo in the area Las Colinas Texas. The 150-room hotel will include a restaurant and meeting space. Construction will start in the second quarter of 2021. James Lusty is the co-founder of Type Six Design & Development. The company has designed Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt hotels in North Texas.

Developer Napa Industries filed plans for a 171-room hotel project.  It is planned for 5041-5057 North Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood California at the corner of Hesby Street. The development site is 30,000 square feet, or two-thirds of an acre, and is currently home to two small retail buildings and a vacant lot. Architecture firm AXIS/GFA is designing the project. Plans include 9,350 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space, underground parking, a conference facility, gym, and a rooftop deck and pool.

Developer Sage Hospitality Group is building The Rally Hotel in Denver Colorado and is set to open to guests in early Spring 2021. The hotel is part of the McGregor Square development in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood between Wynkoop and Wazee and 19th and 20th streets. The hotel will feature a rooftop pool and deck on the Bridge-Way overlooking Coors Field with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains, more than 21,000 sq ft of flexible event space, three lively food and beverage venues. The hotel’s 176 guest rooms, including 29 suites. The 21,000 sq ft of meeting and event space is flexible with offerings ranging from boardrooms to ballrooms. The overall concept for The Rally Hotel, including the amenities and food and beverage outlets, has been curated and directed by the team at Sage Studio, a Sage Hospitality Group company. Architecture firm Stantec has led the design of the hotel and the rest of McGregor Square. General construction has been led by Hensel Phelps. Hotel interior designs are led by New York City-based ICRAVE.

The Naperville, Illinois Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing a proposal submitted by Inter-Continental Real Estate & Development Corp. for CityGate West, a $200 million development on 60 acres that includes 410 residential units, two hotels, and 170,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and medical office space. The residential and commercial development is located at the northwest corner of Route 59 and Interstate 88 in Naperville. One of the project’s key components is the creation of an arts district in partnership with the Naperville Century Walk, which will move its headquarters to the development and be responsible for providing public art throughout the development. Renovations to the Odyssey Fun World property are proposed as part of the project, as well as improved connectivity with the nearby Top Golf and WhirlyBall sports and entertainment businesses. Drawings from the developer depict a Home 2 Suites by Hilton and Hampton Inn & Suites. The developer hopes to begin construction in the 2nd half of 2021.

Construction of the Loews hotel in downtown Memphis Tennessee located at 128 Adams Ave has been slightly delayed with ground breaking now scheduled for the second quarter of 2021 with a completion date of 2024. The project will include 500 guestrooms and 30,000 sf of meeting space. The project developers include: Inland Pacific Companies and JPE Enterprises. Loews Hotels will manage the project. The design team includes: Rule Joy Trammel Rubio Architects, Fleming Architects, OR Marshall Architects and Kimley Horn Engineers. The hotel will cost $240 million to build.

A $100 million duel branded hotel will soon begin construction at Country Club Plaza in Kansas City Missouri. The project will include a Marriott Tribute and Aloft Hotels and be located at 46th Street and Wornall Road. Capital Management Inc. whose president is Chuck Mackey is developing the project that will open in the 4th quarter of 2022. It will include a nice story 175 guestroom Tribute Portfolio Hotel and a seen story 121 guestroom Aloft Hotel which is being designed by DLR Group.

The Leander Planning and Zoning Commission has approved zoning changes allowing a planned mixed use development to move forward. Leander Springs is a 78-acre, mixed-use project with retail, restaurant, entertainment, hospitality, office and residential components. The development will be located at the southwest corner of 183A Toll and FM 2243 in Leander Texas. A 4-acre lagoon will be the center of the proposed project. A hotel and conference center are also planned. Peter Verdicchio with SEC Planning LLC is representing the development group. STG Architects is designing the project. Liz Ferry with RW Harden & Associates has been hired as a water expert for the lagoon development which will be built by Crystal Lagoons. In total the project will cost over $1 billion to develop.
