Development at the former Hotel Beaumont is set to move forward after the Beaumont City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved development incentives.

Mack Patel, a regional hotel developer, is in the process of purchasing the building at 625 Orleans Street Beaumont Texas to convert into a Hampton Inn, which would be his ninth hotel. The sale hasn’t yet closed, but it’s expected to within the next 90 days.

Hotel Beaumont was built in 1922 and operated as a hotel before later serving as an assisted living residence for seniors from 1977 until it closed in 2011. The building has 11 stories with two ballrooms at the top. The project cost of the renovation for the 138-room hotel will be between $5 and $9 million with an estimated start date in September 2020 and a completion date of January 2022. Patel is expecting to soon start work on architectural designs and plans.
