Encore Opportunity Fund has secured a $54 million construction loan for Embassy Suites at Sunset Walk, a 300-unit condominium hotel project in Orlando, Florida. Centennial Bank provided the loan, while Concord Summit Capital arranged the construction loan with a team led by Kevin O’Grady, Justin Neelis and Daniel Rojo. Located at 3240 Margaritaville Boulevard, the development offers furnished studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom condo hotel residences. Construction is already underway.

Developer Chetrit Group led by Joe Chetrit has secured a $185 million loan for the renovation of the Hotel Carter Times Square located at 250 West 43rd Street in New York City. The loan to renovate the 570 guest room hotel was provided by Mack Real Estate Credit Strategies. The financing will replace a $152 million bridge loan from JP Morgan in 2018. Surya Capital Partners’ Adi Chugh arranged the financing for Chetrit. The Hotel Carter was built in 1930 and was known as New York’s dirtiest hotel by TripAdvisor. Chetrit Group plans a complete renovation of the property returning the hotel to its former glory.

The city of Oceanside, California’s planning commission approved a giant mixed-use resort development and artificial surf lagoon to replace a 92-acre vacant lot and former home to a drive-in theater and swap meet. Ocean Kamp Resort will replace the large parcel located on the corner of Foussat Road and state Route 76 with a mixed-use development with 700 homes consisting of apartments, condos, townhomes and senior housing; 134,400 square feet of commercial space with offices, retail and restaurants; several miles of trails and 20 acres of open space; and a 3.5-acre wave lagoon for year-round surfing, swimming and paddle boarding. The project also proposes to build a hotel resort with 232 hotel rooms, eight villas with 18 rooms, 16 casitas with 20 rooms, and permanent Airstream trailers totaling 30 rooms. Parking for the resort and commercial uses will include 1,050 spaces. The development would also have a few parks connected by a network of trails throughout the area with a mountain bike pump track. Jon Corn is partner and project developer.

Developer Miramar Capital is proposing to build 580 units of affordable and market-rate housing, and a 250-room hotel with ground floor retail and an open space park area at Stevens Creek Promenade, located at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Lopina Way in San Jose, California. The project calls for three residential buildings with 580 units of affordable and market-rate housing, a 6 story, 250-room hotel with ground floor retail, and an open space park area. On-site parking with 704 spaces for the new homes and hotel which would be provided in podium levels under each of the structures. The project is scheduled to go before the San Jose Planning Commission.

Arriba Capital has closed a $63.9 million syndicated construction loan for the development of an AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Seattle Washington.  The hotel is being developed by RevPAR Companies for the development of the 200-key AC Hotel by Marriott at 117 Yale Avenue North. The new hotel is well-located in the prominent South Lake Union district, which is a vital business hub with Amazon, Facebook, Google and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and numerous other corporations in the area.

Developer Safari Capital is planning a three tower development along Coronation Avenue is downtown Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The proposed development includes towers proposed to reach 33, 27 and 20 stories in height situated atop one long podium stretching across a land assembly of more than a dozen properties. The overall development would include 700 units, with two towers of market rental units and some condominium units. It would also include an 85-room hotel and ground floor commercial. MON Architecture is designing the project which is going through the design approval process.

Developer Bob Miller, CEO of Equity First Development is proposing to build a mixed-use $120 million luxury boutique hotel, marina, restaurant, retail project with a recreation area in Vero Beach Florida on the riverfront where the old Big Blue power plant is located. The proposal is one of several responding to the cities RFP that were submitted to develop the site. Additional proposals where submitted by developers Urgo Hotels and Resorts, E2L Real Estate Solutions LLC and Clearpath. The city put out the Request for Information to keep the riverfront project moving forward ahead of a November referendum in which voters will decide on rezoning the city-owned site to allow mixed-use redevelopment. If voters approve the project this fall, the city will do further financial, engineering and site-planning work and then put out a more formal Request for Proposals, or RFP. The city owns about 35 acres on three corners at the intersection of 17th Street and Indian River Boulevard, at the base of the Alma Lee Loy Bridge. That includes 16 acres at the power plant site north of the bridge

Dream Hotel Group has started the construction of the $550 million Dream Las Vegas hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Located at 5051 S Las Vegas Blvd, across the street from Mandalay Bay Resort and Bali Hai Golf Club, the new lifestyle hotel and casino will include 531 guestrooms and suites, a 20,000ft² casino and gaming floor, along with 12,000ft² of meeting and event space. Planned to open in late 2024, the 20-storey luxury hotel is being developed in partnership with real estate firms, Shopoff Realty Investments and Contour. The design for the hotel is by architecture firm DLR Group, while AvroKo, Rockwell Group and DLR Interiors are designing the interiors. McCarthy Building Companies is the design-builder contractor for the project. The hotel will have seven dining and nightlife venues, including two bar and lounge concepts on the gaming floor; resort pool and day club on the third floor; a lobby bar, fitness center, craft coffee café and gelateria on the street level; a boutique nightclub, sporting club, signature restaurant and 24-hour diner on the third floor. Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E) will manage casino and gaming operations at the hotel.
