World Equestrian Center in Ocala Florida has broken ground on a second, four-story hotel located inside the 378-acre equestrian and multipurpose facility park. The new pet-friendly hotel has been designed to accommodate an extended-stay customer and will feature 400 larger, suite-like rooms. Plans also include an 80,000-square-foot restaurant complex adjacent to the hotel. The hotel is planned to open in June 2024. The hotel will cater to busy guests with a large grab-and-go marketplace featuring fresh, convenient food products. A fitness center and on-site washer/dryer amenities will be available. Outdoor recreation amenities will include a pool and feature lawn game activities. A special fenced dog park will be available for canine guests.

The vacant Bourbonnais Illinois motel along Illinois Route 50 will be rebranded following an extensive renovation. Red Roof Plus, will be the new name on the former Route 50 Motel, at 1311 N. State Route 50, immediately north of the Denny’s restaurant. The 92-room, pet-friendly location is expected to open in next month. Route 50 Motel had been vacant for about two years. It was purchased in 2021 by Praful Somaiya of APK Hospitality for $825,000 and is investing an additional $370,000 into the site. Extensive renovations are being made to the location, including the installation of an elevator, a first-floor restaurant, repaving the parking lot and room renovations. All 92 rooms which are 200 square feet are being gutted and rebuilt. Twenty-one rooms will offer jacuzzi tubs. The location will employ 15-20.

Developers are planned a mixed use development where S.R. 248 bends eastward toward Kamas and the Jordanelle Reservoir overlook in Hideout Utah. On Thursday, the Hideout Planning Commission unanimously approved a concept plan for the Boulders at Hideout development. The project would include residential, retail, office, and entertainment, restaurants, meeting space and a 150 guestroom hotel and 20 guestroom bed and breakfast. Integrated Planning & Design is the project architect. McKay Christensen is the project developer.

Developer D&S Development Inc. is, proposing a 133-room hotel near a freeway in East Sacramento California and less than half a mile from Sutter Medical Center. Plans filed with the city call for a six-story hotel built to a Homewood Suites standard at 3000 L St., currently the site of a three-story office building. The hotel would be 85,660 square feet. Plans show indoor/outdoor fitness centers, an outdoor grill area and fire pits, and a food preparation area, though no on-site restaurant. HRGA is the project architect. Sara Lebastchi, is D&S’ vice president of operations.

The owners of the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach Florida broke ground on a major expansion and renovation that will convert to property to the Harrah’s Pompano Beach. Harrahs became associated with the Pompano Beach property due to the 2020 merger between Las Caesars Entertainment and ElDorado Resorts. The redevelopment of the 221.6-acre property at 777 Isle of Capri Circle is a joint venture between Caesars and the Cordish Cos. The project, will create a dynamic new casino gaming space that’s easier to access and full of amenities under the Harrah’s banner. The first phase of the project will include a 15,000-square-foot expansion of the casino and a four-level parking garage with more than 1,500 spaces. The second phase will be a terrace with 12,500 square feet of outdoor gaming and a bar. The existing casino will also be remodeled. The project is approved for 4,100 multifamily units, 1.5 million square feet of industrial and 1.3 million square feet of commercial uses, including a movie theater, up to 950 hotel rooms, and a 300-seat arena. The Cordish CEO and Chairman is David Cordish.

The 2021 Hilton Leader of the Year is being promoted from his previous role as Director of Convention Services and Banquets for the award-winning Florida property.

Durant is a 19-year veteran of the Hilton Pensacola Beach, starting in 2003 as a Banquet Server. He earned a promotion after six months, to Banquet Captain, and worked his way up to Director of Banquets. Since 2019, he has served as the property’s Director of Convention Services and Banquets. Durant was named a 2021 Hilton Leader of the Year.

Developers Dale Crighton Land Ltd and Michael Ryan of Silverfin Development Company are planning to build a $125 million resort hotel called the Prisma at Crystal Harbour in the Cayman Islands. The proposed development includes a nine story 44-room hotel, 20 three-storey townhouses, three seven-storey apartment buildings, two nine-storey apartment buildings, five three-storey duplexes, five house lots, 20 pools and a canal marina. It also involves the extension of the existing canal at Crystal Harbour The project is being reviewed by the central planning authority.   Samuel Jackson is the land use lawyer representing the developers. Trio is the architectural company designing the project.

Nigro Development held a ceremonial groundbreaking for a 127-room SpringHill Suites, located at Decatur Boulevard just north of the 215 Beltway in the southern Las Vegas Nevada. The four-story project is scheduled to be finished in early 2023. Michael Nigro is president of Nigro. The firm’s other hotel projects include a Residence Inn on St. Rose Parkway in Henderson and a Fairfield Inn & Suites on Sky Pointe Drive in the northwest valley, both of which were completed in 2019. Nigro also broke ground in fall 2020 on a 119-room TownePlace Suites at Nexus Way and Lamb Boulevard in North Las Vegas. That hotel is scheduled to open this spring.

Construction of making progress at the 96 guestroom Villages Home 2 Suites Hotel, located at 755 Penrose Place in Wildwood Florida. The hotel will be managed by McKibbon Hospitality who recently named James House as general manager. Upon completion, House will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the 96-room hotel under construction on County Road 466A across from Pinellas Plaza in The Villages. The hotel will be an anchor for the 154-acre Beaumont development next to Trailwinds Village. Carrie Duncan is vice president of operations for McKibbon. The hotel’s primary developer is Liberty Group. The extended-stay hotel will offer spacious and modern accommodations with in-room kitchenettes and additional amenities aimed at providing guests with a home-away-from-home experience, including complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Developers are moving forward with plans for a luxury Peabody Hotel in Roanoke Texas. Peabody Hotels and Resorts a subsidiary of Belz Enterprises has set a spring start date for the project. The eight-story, 261-room hotel with a 40,000-square-foot convention space would open in 2024, according to planning documents filed with the state. The project will cost more than $100 million. The Peabody Hotel would be built with support from the city of Roanoke.
