Developer Krause Group is proposing to build a $500 million mixed use project in downtown Des Moines Iowa that would include a soccer stadium, hotel, retail, apartments, restaurants and entertainment complex. Less than three weeks after the city of Des Moines agreed to acquire a long-neglected Superfund site on the edge of downtown, the leading advocate for professional soccer in Iowa is proposing to put a stadium there. Krause Group wants to partner with Des Moines on redeveloping the former Dico property, moving a soccer stadium planned for adjacent property onto the site. Gerard Haberman is president of Krause Group Real Estate. The soccer stadium, Superfund site clean up and first phase of the project is planned to begin in the 2nd quarter of 2021.
