Hotel developer The St Joe Company held a groundbreaking for a Hotel Indigo marina and restaurant in downtown Panama City Florida. The St. Joe Company is investing 36 million dollars into the 124 room Hotel Indigo. St. Joe Company President and CEO is Jorge Gonzalez. Construction of the hotel will take two years, while the restaurant will only take ten months to complete.  Cardella Construction is serving as the project manager.

A 1,049 foot, 100-story mixed use tower which will include a Waldorf Astoria Hotel by Hilton is being planning in downtown Miami Florida.  The Waldorf will include 360 private residential condo units as well as 205 guestrooms and suites and become Miami’s tallest building which is currently 85 stories.  The project is being developed by PMG at a cost of $1 billion.  Architects designing the project include: Carlos Ott and Sieger Suarez with the interior design by BAMO.  The developer has opened a sales center adjacent to the site with plans the break ground late 2021 or early 2022 contingent upon the pace of sales.

Marriott and developer Lightstone Group are planning to open two Moxy hotels in Manhattan and Brooklyn New York. The new lodgings will be located at 145 Bowery on the Lower East Side, and at 353 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn. The new 127,000-square-foot Manhattan hotel will have 303 rooms, and will feature a restaurant, lobby bar and a cocktail bar and lounge, per the report. The 88,000-square-foot Brooklyn hotel will have 216 rooms, a cafe, outdoor garden and rooftop bar, as well as a lobby bar and cocktail lounge.

The Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei Hawaii received approval for a permit to build a six-story, 170-room expansion. The $48 million construction project, proposed by WCME, will be built on a 4.8-acre vacant parcel next to the current 265-room hotel, which is located on the mauka side of South Kihei Road. The expansion will include an entrance lobby, a pool and deck and rooftop solar. There will also be a one-story restaurant, retail and/or meeting space building, which will be located at the front of the property and closer to South Kihei Road than the current hotel. It will also include two parking areas, one with 112 parking stalls, including ADA accessible stalls, and another with 118 stalls. Leilani Pulmano, of Pacific Rim Land is the managing partner of applicant WCME.

Montage Mountain in Scranton Pennsylvania is planning to build a 178 guestrooms hotel. Montage offers skiing a waterpark and festivals. The owners of Montage are planning to put a hotel between the Northface and Cannonball trails, removing its maintenance buildings. Hotel plans are still in the preliminary stage. Construction is tentative to start in mid-to-late 2022 with an opening date of late 2023 to early 2024. Charlie Jefferson is co-owner at Montage Mountain.

Developer Elite Casino Resort has moved up the construction timeline of its planned Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort in Carterville, Illinois. Original plans called for the building to be constructed in phases but will now be built in a single phase. Dan Kehl is the CEO of Elite Casino Resorts. The new proposed construction schedule allows the casino, hotel, spa and all signature Elite amenities to be opened sooner. The proposed permanent casino resort will feature more than 650 slot machines, 20 table games, ELITE Sportsbook (a sports wagering platform), a 116-room hotel, pool, spa, a retail shop, show lounge, event center for concerts and events, and signature restaurants including a family dining outlet, Ruthie’s Steak and Seafood and Draft Day Sports Lounge. Bids are being sought for construction of the resort.

A Marriott Autograph Hotel is proposed for north of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Fiserv Forum. The hotel will be a nine-story building with 205 rooms. The proposed project, is to undergo a Plan Commission review on March 29. North Central Group is the developer of the hotel which is just north of Juneau Avenue, between North Phillips Avenue and North 5th Street. The plans, include 8,700 square feet of meeting and event space, street-level retail space at the hotel’s southwest corner and restaurant/lounge/entertainment space on the top floor. Construction would begin this fall, with the hotel to be completed by late 2022 or early 2023. The hotel is being designed by GBA Architecture and Design.

The proposal includes 50 guest rooms, a 100-seat restaurant and bar featuring indoor and outdoor dining, separate 200-person and 50-person event spaces and a rooftop bar. The property currently is not a registered historical site.
