Developer KT Urban is planning to build a boutique hotel across from the Santana Row shopping mall in San Jose, California. The seven story, 176-room Olin Hotel located at 425 S Winchester Ave was delayed due to the Covid pandemic but is now moving forward and going through the city’s planning process. Mark Tersini is vice president of KT Urban. Lowney Architecture is design the project.

Construction of a new dual branded Marriott Hotel in Beavercreek, Ohio that was delayed due to the COVID pandemic is now preparing to break ground. The builder and designer of the 90,000-square-foot, 160-room hotel is HiFive Development Services. The hotel at 2727 Fairfield Commons Lot 1C in Beavercreek will include a Fairfield Inn & Suites and Towneplace Suites. HiFive expects the hotel to be completed in Q4 2025. Scarlet & Gray Hospitality will own and operate the hotel.

Developer Revesco Properties led by CEO Rhys Duggan is planning a hotel and mixed use development for the 2nd phase of Hurley Place in the River North Art District in Denver, Colorado. The 62-acre River Mile project in downtown Denver located at 3715 Chestnut Place on approximately three acres of land in will include a hotel, condos and apartments at the site. Hurley Place developer Menalto Development whose CEO is Bernard Hurley is also partner project. The new hotel will have 172 keys, there will be 126 condo units and 304 multifamily rental units, 33,000 square feet of retail, in addition to public outdoor space. Site development plans will be approved 18 months. John Buck Company is partner on development of the 1st phase Hurley Place which involves one office building and one multifamily building. Semple Brown Design is the current architect on the project and Swinerton has been doing pre-construction work on the site. Both development phases have an estimated cost of $700 million.

A new resort is being planned for downtown Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Margaritaville branded resort would be located at the intersection of 17th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard. The resort will feature three major buildings, including a main hotel, a 210-foot accommodations tower for parking and check-in, and a 50-foot amenity center with a pool deck and bar/restaurant. The hotel will include ballrooms, conference rooms and a Margaritaville gift shop. On the second floor there will be space for additional developments, to include restaurants, cafes, bakeries, bars, retail shops and other stores. The project is being proposed by Development Resource Group.

Hotel management and development companies Peachtree Group and Ascent Hospitality are planning a $50 million renovation project that will convert a historic office building in downtown Birmingham, Alabama to a dual branded AC & Element Hotel. The hotel will be in the historic Brown Marx Tower, built in 1906, at the intersection of 20th Street North and First Avenue North. Ascent plans the 338 guest room AC & Element Hotel, both of which are Marriott brands. The project’s AC Hotel is geared toward business travelers and will have 190 rooms. The Element Hotel will feature 148 extended-stay style rooms with kitchens. The project will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

Developers are planning a boutique hotel at 1016 W. Lake in Chicago, Illinois which was recently presented to the local community. Proposed by Cogswell Realty headed by Erol Stapleton, the project is being planned for the northeast corner of W. Lake St and N. Carpenter St. The property currently includes a surface parking lot and a three-story building that will be cleared for the new development. The project is aiming to exceed many sustainability requirements and goals including achieving WELL certification, LEED certification, and net-zero energy. The all-electric building will include solar panels on the roof as well as bird-friendly glass with bird fritting. The hotel tower will rise 15 floors with 143 guest rooms. The project will include a rooftop sky lounge and three floors of amenity space at the base of the building. On the ground floor, guests will enter through the hotel lobby facing N. Carpenter St and a commercial space will front W. Lake St. The building will have no parking spaces, but will offer valet service at the building’s drop off zone along N. Carpenter St. The project is being designed by M Moser Associates.

Casino operator Penn Entertainment Inc has begun construction of a new hotel at its Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio. The $100 million project will be attached to the existing property at 200 Georgesville Road in west Columbus. It will include 180 rooms, meeting space, a new restaurant and other amenities that will be announced at a later date. Richard Skinner is vice president of the Hollywood Casino Columbus. Jay Snowden is CEO of Penn Entertainment. Marnell Architecture is the project designer.

A $50 million resort style hotel is planned for Foley, Alabama. The hotel is planned to open in May 2025 and is being developed by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ at the latest addition to the OWA Parks & Resort designation. It will be located on the northeast side of the Tropic Falls waterpark, which opened earlier this year. OWA is an entertainment destination in Foley that is owned by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. Dale Partners is the project Architect. Rabren General Contractors has been selected to oversee the construction. The multi-story hotel is in the design stages. Development plans call for tropical-themed guest rooms that include a kitchenette and workspace, along with optional bunk bed spaces for larger families. Other key resort amenities will include an outdoor resort-style pool with a bar and grill, 24-hour fitness center, meeting space, lounge, convenience store and arcade, along with complimentary valet service, WiFi and breakfast.

Developer Prospera Hotel is planning to development a new full service hotel at 718 Yesler Way in Seattle Washington.   Prospera bought the land last year and the project is currently in design review with the city. The proposed hotel will contain 194 guestrooms and be eight stories tall. Johnson Braund Inc is the project Architect and interior designer.

Developers JMA Ventures LLC and Machete Group are working with the Magic’s SED Development LLC on a $500 million 900,000-square-foot mixed-use project. The project will be developed adjacent Amway Center’s north entrance on an 8.5-acre block in downtown Orlando, Florida. The project includes: A 260-guest room hotel with an outdoor lounge and pool deck, along with 16,000 square feet of meeting space and restaurant. Above the hotel will be 270 apartments.  A 3,500-capacity music venue and banquet space. 200,000 square feet of Class A office space. The building will have a 17,000-square-foot rooftop amenity with event space totaling 6,000 square feet. 100,000 square feet of retail space and dining space. The project break ground by the end of 2024 and be complete in late 2026. Dan Nesson of True North Real Estate is head of retail leasing, while Alex Rosario of Foundry Commercial is head of office leasing. David Carlock is founder and principal of Machete Group.
