Developers are planning to break ground on the new construction of a 176 guestroom Marriott TownPlace Suites hotel at 491, 493 and 497 West San Carlos Street and 270 Josefa Street in downtown San Jose California. The hotel will include a roof top lounge and bar. Urban Catalyst is the project’s developer and BDE is the project’s Architect. Erik Hayden is managing partner of Urban Catalyst. Poppy Bank provided a $48 million construction loan for the project with an overall cost of $100 million.

Developer RREAF Holdings and Innisfree Hotels are jointly developing the $110 million, 334-key project at 317 East Beach Drive in Galveston, Texas under the name RREAF Grand Beach Development, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction will begin later this month at a cost of $329,000 per room and will be complete in 2025. The project, will feature a pool and amenity deck, restaurant, family entertainment center and conference center. It will have direct access to one of the city’s only alcohol-permitted beaches, East Beach. The Galveston Resort will occupy 300,000 square feet, making it one of the largest developments in eastern Galveston. Innisfree Holdings manages more than 24 hotels and resorts nationwide, mostly in Florida. RREAF had amassed over $3 billion in assets across 57 properties emphasizing hospitality projects and multifamily developments in the Southwest region. Gensler is the projects designer.

Three historic buildings in downtown Cincinnati Ohio will soon become a hotel and rooftop bar when combined with a seven-story tower. Developer Rolling Hills Hospitality is working on the Moxy, a 111-room hotel located at 312 Main St. The project will blend the Italiante architecture of the three existing buildings with an adaptive reuse of a newly built 7-story hotel tower. The hotel will include an outdoor courtyard and rooftop bar. The first floor will be designed to feel like a living room for patrons and downtown workers, with a daytime coffee shop that will become a bar at night. Rolling Hills Hospitality is working with City Studios Architecture, High-Five Development Services and hotel design firm the Society as design and construction partners on the project. The Rolling Hills Hospitality President is Bimal Patel. The hotel will open in late 2024.

Developer Thor Equities is resuming construction on the Latham Hotel redevelopment in the Gorge town area of Washington DC. Designed by Michael Winstanley of Winstanley Architects & Planners the 100 guestroom hotel includes 9,000 sf of ground floor retail located at 3000 M Street Northwest. The project will include a mix of restaurant and retail. As of yet no flag has been named for the hotel. Joe Sitt is chairman of Thor.

A 122 guestroom extended stay hotel is being proposed for Latham, New York. Project developer Reddy Patlola Rathnaker, who owns a gas stations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, plans to build a $12 million WoodSpring Suites by Choice Hotels just west of Exit 6 off the Interstate 87 Northway. The triangle-shaped parcel at 686 Troy-Schenectady Road (Route 7) is wedged between a small office building on the south side of the road and a strip mall.

Developer Kila Tahoe LLC, is planning to start construction of the 118-unit Tahoe City Lodge, at 255 North Lake Blvd in Tahoe City California. Construction is set to start spring of 2023 and be completed by early 2025. The Tahoe City Lodge, on the site of what’s currently a 1960s era commercial building and parking, would have 65 hotel rooms marketed as condominiums and the remainder as standard hotel rooms. A restaurant & rooftop bar, fitness center, gear shop and concierge service are planned for the project. The project is estimated to cost $50 million.

The Tampa Bay Rays and Hines Development are planning an 86-acre mixed use project at the Historic Gas Plant District in downtown St Petersburg, Florida. The proposed 7 million square foot redevelopment will include a new baseball park for the Tampa Bay Rays, 5,700 multifamily units, 1.4 million square feet of office, 300,000 square feet of retail, a 2,500-person entertainment venue, 700 hotel rooms and 600 senior living residences. The team is also planning to build a music hall on the property, and renderings show plans to relocate the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum to the site. The project would begin in late 2024 and be complete by the start of baseball season in 2028.

Planned to open at the end of 2023, the 208-room InterContinental Hotel will occupy nine floors of the two-tower Avenue Bellevue development in Bellevue Washington. The hotel, from luxury hotel brand IHG Hotels & Resorts, will feature food and drink concepts from three-Michelin-star chef Joshua Skenes, Iron Chef personality and restaurateur Masaharu Morimoto and James Beard-nominee Robbie Felice. Avenue Bellevue is the 1.1 million-square-foot development underway at 10300 NE Eighth St., north of Bellevue Square mall. In addition to the hotel, the project calls for 365 condominiums and retail space. Fortress Development Group LLC is developing the property. Benchmark Hospitality with manage the hotel, with HBA serving as lead designer.

The construction of a new hotel in downtown Coral Springs Florida is expected to start in March. The proposed Hyatt Place will be built on the west side of Cornerstone, the apartment and retail complex going up on the southwest corner of Sample Road and University Drive. The hotel will have 144 rooms and be developed by ADËLON Capital and managed by AD1 Management. It will also have a 4,000-square-foot rooftop bar and restaurant. In the second building, the project’s main developer, Predeso Property Investments, has proposed constructing 361 apartments, 771 spots in a parking garage, and 23,696-square-feet of retail space on the first floor. If all the plans are approved, Cornerstone would have at least 700 apartments and about 41,500-square-feet of retail space.
