Developer’s Hightop Real Estate and Development plans to build a hotel at 7th and Chestnut streets were given a recommendation for approval, by the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Historical Commission’s Architectural Committee. Hightop Real Estate and Development wants to create a ground-floor restaurant with a hotel above it at 700-02 and 704 Chestnut St. The proposal calls for adding six floors to the existing structure at 700-02 Chestnut and razing the three-story building at 704 Chestnut. Following demolition, 704 Chestnut would be rebuilt with its original five-story facade restored, along with a seven-story addition. Both buildings, at 700-02 and 704 Chestnut St., are listed as contributing to the Chestnut Street East Commercial Historic District, causing the strict review of the project. The building at 700-02 Chestnut St. used to be home to Stephen Starr’s Jones restaurant. Architect Herb Schultz designed the project.

A new casino hotel is being proposed for Reno Nevada with plans to open in four years. Developer Elevation Entertainment led by Ryan Stone is the project’s developer.   The development’s area would cover almost 20 acres that are partially vacant at the northwest corner of the intersection of South Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane.  Plans for the project named Fire-creek Crossing Resort and Casino were submitted to the city and include multiple, large-scale areas. The total building area will be over one million square feet and include a 13-story hotel, casino and convention space. If the plans are accepted, the project would take about two years to break ground and another two years to finish construction. Since the proposed area of the site is already zoned as a gaming overlay district, the project doesn’t need direct approval by the city council to proceed.

HCW Development LLC lead by CEO Rick Huffman topped out construction of the 11-story 265 guest-room Caesars Republic hotel in Scottsdale Arizona. Caesars Entertainment Inc. has the naming rights to the non-gaming hotel. HCW expects construction to continue through the year in preparation for a February 2024 opening. It will have features such as a rooftop pool and lounge, five 2,000-square-foot penthouse suites, views of Scottsdale and Camelback Mountain, two restaurants designed by celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis. The hotel is located on the corner of Goldwater Boulevard and Highland Avenue next to Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. Construction started in 2020. HCW is developing the new hotel. Layton Construction is the general contractor and HCW worked with BRP Architects on the design of the building and Studio 11 on the interior design of the hotel. HCW doesn’t plan to do a soft opening for the hotel so when February 2024 comes around guests will be able to eat at the restaurants and lodge at the hotel. It looks to start taking reservations this spring. Upon opening, it will employ about 200 people. Joe Itturri was named as general manager.
