A mixed-use development is proposed for Goose Island that would bring residential units and a 300-key hotel. The proposal by the Onni Group would bring 2,650 new residential units, 300 hotel rooms, commercial and retail space, 1,400 parking spaces and open space to 901 N. Halsted St. along the Chicago River in the 27th Ward. The development, called Halsted Pointe, is proposed to include five towers ranging from a 28-story hotel to a 65-story residential building. Three additional residential buildings would stand at 30, 45 and 46 stories. Four activated mid-rise buildings would be built next to the towers. Onni is also planning to prioritize open space along the river and bring more than 1,300 linear feet of publicly accessible Riverwalk to the development.

Hotel developer A&R Group has submitted a proposal to redevelop the Romar Beach Baptist Church in Orange Beach, Alabama, converting the existing building to an Aloft Hotel. The existing building has five floors and an attached parking garage with two levels. The proposed hotel will be an Aloft by Marriott with 76 lodging rooms. Plans call for extending floors three, four and five over the parking deck to increase the square footage. The Orange Beach Planning Commission and City Council pushed for a coastal look on the exterior of the building.

Developer Colin Colbert or CKC Properties LLC is planning to build a boutique hotel at Shem Creek in Mt Pleasant / Charleston, South Carolina. The project will contain around 100 guestrooms and including 35 parking spaces. The project is being designed by LFK Architects and is in the design review and project approval process.

Developer Banyan Investment Group are proposing to replace a Quality Inn and Suites on Scenic Gulf Drive in Miramar Beach, Florida with a 100 guestroom TownePlace Suites Hotel. The hotel would be located at the 1.5 acre site on Scenic Gulf Drive near U.S. Highway 98. Banyan Investment Group operates 26 hotels in 13 states, including Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott properties. Baskerville-Donovan Inc is the engineering firm for the project.

Construction of the Wichita Falls, Texas hotel, convention center construction is approved and expected to start in November. The approval came for $15 million going to Clark Construction to build the convention center portion. The 200 guestroom, full service hotel, will cost $50 million, be branded as a Delta Hotel by Marriott and is being developed by O’Reilly Hospitality Management. The project includes a 14,725 square foot Banquet Room. The entire Conference Center, which includes a pre-convention area and back-of-house space is approximately 35,960 square feet. The Delta by Marriott Hotel and Conference Center will be located on the grounds of the MPEC Facilities.

The owner of The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and The Firebrand Hotel is proposing a new boutique hotel at the corner of Central Avenue and First Street in downtown Whitefish Montana, on a prominent corner lot adjacent to the Craggy Range Restaurant.  Averill Hospitality’s proposal of a 40-room hotel, will include first-floor dining, retail space, a rooftop deck serving food and beverages, and a basement parking structure with hydraulic stacking technology for maximizing space. Developer Urban Catalyst is planning to build a TownePlace Suites extended stay hotel in downtown San Jose, California. Located at 491 W. San Carlos Street, this nationally branded extended-stay Marriott TownePlace Suites business hotel will be a short walk from Google’s Downtown West mega-campus. The eight-story hotel will be 185,000 square feet and offer 175 suites and on-site parking. Every room will have a kitchen.
