Waites Wharf Hotel Moves Forward

Developer Thomas Abruzese plans to demolish four buildings located at the end of the wharf in Newport Rhode Island where it is proposing to build the Waites Wharf Hotel. The building to be demolished includes the Deck Restaurant which has been approved by the Newport Planning Board. The 150 guestroom luxury hotel is being designed by Architect Ross Cann and Land Surveyor Neal Hingorany.

Air Force Academy Hotel to Break Ground

A planned $225 Air Force Academy Hotel and Conference Center will break ground this summer in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 10 acre resort will be built and owned by Provident Resources Group which builds projects with tax-exempt bonds that serve a public benefit and drive tax revenues for local governments across the country. Steve Hicks, is CEO and board chairman. Provident is also building a new indoor waterpark at the Mall of America in Bloomington Minnesota. The planned 300,000 sf convention center and hotel near the Air Force Academy Visitor’s Center will be financed with $224 million in bonds. Work is planned to start in August 2021 after infrastructure work is completed.

Cambria Hotel to Begin Construction

Construction of a Cambria Hotel in Napa California will resume next month. Construction has been halted at the site, 320 Soscol Ave. Work at the project site began in 2018. It is owned and being developed by Stratus Development and designed by Hannouch Architects.

8-Story Marriott Hotel Planned for Riverside

A 226 guestroom duel branded AC Hotel by Marriott and Residence Inn is planned for downtown Riverside California. The hotel would be located off the 91 Freeway on Mission Inn Avenue. The plan is to build the hotel on a parking lot and convert the adjacent former central fire station into offices. Resort Hotel Planned for Pinehurst

Plans for a hotel key to the Pinehurst Resort’s in Pinehurst North Carolina new role as an anchor site for the U.S. Open and other golfing championships have cleared the first phase of the village’s approval process. The 64,000 sf resort is planned off of Carolina Vista Drive. The project with the working title The Lodge at Pinehurst will contain 34 rooms, including some suites, lobby, meeting spaces, locker room, fitness area and bar. It’s scheduled to be finished by the end of 2023, in time for the next U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2024. The hotel is being designed by Cooper Carry Architects. Tom Pashley is president of the Pinehurst Resort.

SpringHill Suites Hotel Planned

A mixed-use development underway in Clark County Ohio will also include new hotel that will be constructed on the property. The Champions Park project, a development of 14 acres of land near the entrance of the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio will now include a 114-key SpringHill Suites hotel. The SpringHill Suites will be operated by Champions Innkeepers LLC — a joint venture between Har Bhatnagar and Dillin LLC. The joint venture will develop both the hotel and broader project, which will also include a retail and restaurant component. Plans also call for a new entrance and landscaping to the fairgrounds, a new fair office and retention pond in the area near Interstate 70 and Ohio 41. The hotel will begin construction later this year.

Hotel Paso Robles Planned at Pine and 14th

Demolition of an old First National Bank building in downtown Gainesville Florida has begun in preparation of the new construction of a Courtyard by Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. Capstone Property Group led by president Jonathan Collins is developing the project which is located at 111 Green Street. The $50 million, 130 guestroom hotel will include, convention space, apartments, outdoor plaza and dining areas. Construction of the development could start this summer and be finished in late 2022 or early 2023.
