Gerard Keating a Florida-based real estate investor closed on a $2.3 million purchase of the Gold’s Building, which covers half the block bounded by 10th, 11th, O and N streets in Lincoln Nebraska. Keating is planning a $15 million-$20 million redevelopment project that will turn the six-story, 115,000-square-foot northern part of the building into a 110-room extended-stay hotel. The 207,000-square-foot, four-story southern part of the building will house existing tenants, including State of Nebraska offices.
Work in the four-story portion of the building will start right away, and will include upgrades such as new elevators, bathrooms and windows, as well as new paint and carpet and plans for the work to be complete by August, at which point work on the hotel will begin. That work is projected to take a year and the hotel would be open in August 2021. The owner is planning to brand the hotel as a Residence Inn by Marriott but is still considering all brands and plans to make a final decision by March 2020. The extended-stay hotel rooms will have full kitchens and the first floor of the hotel will have a restaurant and bar. Nebraska Sign Co. will recreate three iconic 1950s neon Gold’s signs from their original patterns to adorn the exterior of the building. Costello Construction will begin the renovation of the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel and redevelopment project. Costello Construction purchased the 290-room Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel, located on the shores of Lake Kittamaqundi at 10207 Wincopin Cir in Downtown Columbia Maryland in December 2017. The $25m renovation plans include a complete exterior overhaul, two new structural additions boasting 76 uniquely appointed guest rooms, remodeling of all tower rooms and the addition of 6’ wide terraces to all lakefront units. Once complete, the hotel will house a total of 212 spacious guest rooms, a new rooftop pool, a new signature restaurant, a café, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an expansive bar-front terrace with spectacular views of the lake, an exclusive rooftop bar + lounge and more than 10,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space. The hotel’s two new structural additions, extensive interior-exterior remodeling, and distinct design décor, will convert the hotel up to a four-star Autograph Collection property. This historic Dunhill boutique hotel in uptown Charlotte North Carolina is to undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation and is renovating its 60 guest rooms. The hotel is located at 237 N. Tryon St and the project will maintain the historical integrity of the building.

A developer plans for a hotel conversion project at 432 Walnut St. in downtown, Cincinnati Ohio in a building which currently is vacant. It is expected to become a Kimpton hotel with a $50 million project cost. Parkes Development Group is rehabilitating the 15-story Traction Building. The developer has obtained state and federal historic tax credits for the project, which will build 147 hotel rooms along with a restaurant, fitness room, ballroom space and rooftop bar. Hart Hotels an Omaha hotel development company plans a dual branded hotel at Johnstown’s 2534 development in Fort Collins Colorado with plans to build a 98-room, dual-branded hotel. Hart Hotels plans to build a Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites hotel, expected to open in the fall of 2020. The hotel will be built northeast of the Scheels store in the development southeast of Interstate 25 and U.S. 34. It will be the third hotel developed at 2534 in the past few years; the others are the Wingate by Wyndham and Hawthorn Extended Stay dual-branded hotel, and the Comfort Suites. The Sleep Inn side of the new four-story hotel will have 65 traditional hotel rooms, and the MainStay Suites will have 33 larger rooms with kitchens. The property will have an indoor pool, free guest laundry, a coffee bar and free hot breakfast. Hart Hotels plans to build hotels in five other Colorado markets. Adjacent to the Dead Sea in Israel four hotels are to be built, containing over 1,000 rooms, and alongside them a new commercial center, and a 40,000 square meter convention center. Portman Holdings work will begin work on a 26-story convention center hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The new 700-room hotel tower is going up at the northwest corner of 200 South and West Temple in Utah’s capital and will be operated by Hyatt Hotels.  The $377 million building will be called the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City. Ambrish Baisiwala is CEO of Atlanta-based Portman Holdings. Portman plans to build a striking curved glass exterior, rising above a substantial lobby facing 200 South. The new tower is expected to offer nearly 60,000 square feet of meeting spaces, including a grand ballroom, a lobby bar, first- and sixth-floor restaurants and an outdoor terrace with a pool, garden and other amenities. The owners of the Waterfront Hotel and Marina in Nanaimo, British Columbia Canada are proposing to demolish the 45-year-old building and replace it with a 10-storey waterfront hotel designed in a contemporary style. Plans call for 25 to 30 condominium units and 110 hotel rooms, plus conference space, a lounge and cocktail bar, spa and food outlets at the 1000 Stewart Ave. property. Odai Sirri is director of asset management for Waterfront Holdings Ltd which plans the development. The company is also planning to expand waterfront activities available at its 80-boat marina with offerings such as charters and kayak rentals. Construction is now underway at  58 West 39th Street,  aka H Hotel W39, in  Midtown . Designed by  Peter F. Poon Architect  and developed by  Wei Hong Hu  of H Hotel LLC, the 447-foot-tall, 29-story structure is rising from a narrow plot below Bryant Park between Fifth and Sixth Avenue in New York City. The rendering shows a futuristic, glass-clad design with a dramatic cantilever high above street level. The development will contain a total of 56,000 square feet, with 41,500 square feet of commercial space and 65 hotel rooms, meeting rooms, a fitness center, and a hotel lobby along West 39th Street. City planning officials have approved the developer to build a boutique hotel on King Street. The new hotel, planned for 529 King Street in Charleston South Carolina, will be four stories tall, have 50 rooms, a rooftop seating area, and a courtyard. The former Dixie furniture store will be demolished to build the hotel. Method Company is the developer behind the project whose president is David Grasso. They plan to build their branded ROOST Apartment Hotel at the site.
