A Home2 Suites by Hilton Hotel is being proposed by Moment Development to be built at 2577 Walker Lake Road in Ontario, Ohio. Moment Development has nearly completed its construction documents and plans to present architectural designs at the next planning commission meeting. The property owners plan to share ownership of the cinema drive and pave additional space outside of Walker Lake Road. The project could begin construction at the end of 2023 and take 12 months to complete. Chris Knapton is director of development administration for Moment Development.

Developer AIMCO is planning a mixed use development for the former Searstown site in Fort Lauderdale, Florida the will include apartments, offices, retail and a hotel. The plans for the 5.64-acre site at 901 N. Federal Highway calls for 797 apartments, 104,317 square feet of office, 70,693 square feet of retail, a 17,485-square-foot grocery store, 10,000 square feet of restaurants, a 188-room hotel and 1,977 parking spaces. There would be two 30-story towers plus a 21-story tower, all connected by a parking podium. The office space would cover four double-height floors within the nine-story parking podium. There would be an amenity deck atop the parking podium featuring three pools and a gym. Attorney Courtney Crush, is representing AIMCO in the application. The project is being designed by Stantec.

Portman Holdings the developer of the new, $470 million convention center hotel in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio plans an 800-room facility with a rooftop pool, interior traffic circle to take related traffic off the street and ballrooms filled with natural light, unlike the window-less ones of old. The facility will have a junior and senior ballroom as a part of 75,000 square feet of meeting space. The ballrooms will feature outdoor balconies. The ballrooms will feature outdoor balconies. The convention center hotel will likely have one of three flags: Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt. Once planning is finalized and the hotel receives the city and county’s OK, Portman will put the flag out for bid. Once financing is lined up, construction is estimated to begin in the second quarter of 2024, with a 30 to 33-month construction timeline. Skanska USA, will be the lead general contractor, with Moody Nolan as the Architect, Bayer Becker as the civil engineering, and Piper Sandler as the capital markets partner. Ambrish Baisiwala, is the CEO of Portman Holdings.

Developer Vision Hospitality broke ground on a 184-room hotel and conference facility the company plans to build over the next two years beside the Majestic 12 Theater in the 300 block of Broad Street in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. The $54 million Embassy Suites hotel located at Fourth and Broad streets. The seven-story hotel will feature 5,000 square feet of meeting space, including an event center and a rooftop bar, along with 4,800 square feet of retail space along Broad Street for a street-level restaurant, bar and coffee area and restaurant. Mitch Patel is the founder and president of Vision Hospitality whose hotel business to include 42 hotels in nine states. Vision Hospitality is currently developing $500 million in new projects in various stages, with 16 projects now in the company’s pipeline

The Chicago Illinois City Council has approved the proposed hotel conversion at 446 E. Ontario. Designed by structural engineer Fazlur Khan from SOM, the Onterie Center known as Axis Apartments and Lofts is a 60-story building which holds 140,000 square feet of office space, 594 apartments, and a 363-space parking garage. The building uses concrete-infilled window panels to create cross-bracing on the exterior. Proposed by Group Fox Management, the project would convert 100,000 square feet of the office space into 101 hotel rooms.  Designed by NORR, the project would remove the glazing over the two atria in the podium to bring light to the hotel rooms. Creating open-air courtyards, the interior walls will be re-glazed to enclose the new hotel rooms. Hotel guests will enter the building from E. Ontario St, no parking will be provided. The $28 million development is now fully approved and can move forward with permitting and construction. A timeline for construction is currently unknown.

Oxbow Development Group is planned a new hotel at the Pearl. The 151 guest room hotel will be located at 1210 E. Elmira St. in San Antonio, Texas and take the place of a surface parking lot that now exists across the San Antonio River from the Hotel Emma and the Pearl’s popular restaurants, bars, shops and services. Oxbow expects to break ground on the project in early 2024 with construction to take at least two years. The eight-story hotel will be designed with a timeless aesthetic that honors the rich history of the Pearl Brewery.  The hotel is being designed by architect Don McDonald. The renderings show a brick structure with arched porticos reminiscent of the Oxbow office building near the Pearl on Broadway Street. The hotel will feature 13,500 square feet of meeting space, a lobby bar and rooftop bar and grill, and a pool deck open to the public. Hotel guests will be able to access the Pearl by crossing the existing pedestrian bridge near the amphitheater. Bill Shown, is CEO of Oxbow Development Group. Oxbow is the developer arm of Silver Ventures, which developed the Pearl, and behind such projects as the Cellars and Southline apartments at the Pearl, the Oxbow and Credit Human buildings on Broadway Street and The Lab multi-use building at the Pearl. The developer is building a 256-unit apartment tower at Elmira and Quincy streets that will be called Cooper’s Row. The project will be completed by the end of 2024. The developer is also remaking the former Samuels Glass Co. plant and warehouse, which sits adjacent to the Pearl at 221 Newell Ave., into a fresh foods market with restaurants and office space.

Construction continues on the new VAI Resort Hotel & Waterpark being developed in Glendale Arizona. The new VAI Resort in Glendale’s sports and entertainment district which now has an opening date of 2024 as the developer continues making progress on construction. VAI is expected to be the largest resort in the state’s history once fully built out. It will feature more than 1,100 rooms with suites and villas, a 5-acre water feature, a large music and entertainment venue with 16 ticket and seating options, 12 signature restaurants, 10 bar and lounge areas, high-end shopping, a luxury spa, a nightclub and the first ever Mattel Adventure Park. VAI Global Development, is owned by construction firm Fisher Industries, who is developing the 60-acre project along the Loop 101 just south of State Farm Stadium. Grant Fisher, is president and CEO of VAI Global Development. The $1 billion resort will be operated by Epic Resort Destinations. The general contractor is Fisher Industries. The architects are Baker Barrios Architects Inc., Gensler, Simeone Deary Design Group and Davis.

Developer Kinseth Hospitality is building a 93 guestroom Home2Suites at a nine acre site in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The 4 story hotel is adjacent to the upcoming North Town Apartments and will include pet friendly accommodations, a fitness center, and salt water swimming pool and outdoor lounge with fire pits. American Architectural Group is the project architect. American Construction Services is working as the general contractor for the hotel. Construction on site, 3960 N. Marquette Circle, is expected to be completed in July 2024.
