A four story Springhill Suites Marriott branded hotel is being planned at 2295 S. State Street in Ann Arbor Michigan. Designed by Bowers + Associates the development plans to demolish the site’s existing building to redevelop a nearly 64,000 square-foot hotel that will feature more than 100 rooms and an indoor pool. The project is being planned by Bacall Companies. Bacall Companies manages of a variety of properties including retail, office spaces, food and beverage and other hotels. Dorayd Bacall is the company chairman. Bacall is behind other hotel developments in the Ann Arbor area including the Home2 Suites by Hilton at 361 W. Eisenhower Parkway, which recently broke ground for construction. Becall manages 40 hotels in the metro Detroit area. Groundbreaking for the new Marriott is planned for Spring of 2024.

Developers Rockford Construction, and Bhogi Patel of Grand Michigan Lodging LLC are planning a new 20,877-square-foot, four-story, 103-room Homewood Suites hotel on approximately 4 vacant acres at 2365 Northridge Drive NW in Walker Michigan. The site, which is at the northeast corner of Walker Avenue and Northridge Drive, is zoned commercial planned unit development. It is part of the larger Walkerview PUD. The site plan includes a hotel with meeting rooms and a pool, associated utilities, a 110-space parking lot with four accessible spaces for people with disabilities, a dumpster enclosure, landscape and lighting improvements, and cross-access and utility easements. The application documents filed with the city did not include a project budget or timeline.

Developers are planning a $5 billion mixed use project at Midtown Dallas Texas that will include: hotels, apartments, office, retail and entertainment. Beck Ventures led by CEO Scott Beck is the master developer for the project which is located at 635/LBJ Freeway at Preston Road. The 104-arcre development plans call for two luxury hotels; iconic office towers; an upscale 10-screen theater; about 4,000 high-end multifamily rental units; hundreds of luxury for-sale condo units; an elevated tram system connecting Dallas Midtown to the Galleria; parks and open space; hike and bike trails; and interactive water features throughout. The project team includes: Omniplan, WDG, 5G, Pacheco Kock, Jacobs, TWICHELL, Street-Works Studio, Studio Outside, ESG & BGE. Vertical construction will begin last 2023.

Developer Swire Properties is planning the Mandarin Oriental Hotel & Residences on the island of Brickell Key in Miami, Florida. Located at One Island Drive the project would consist of two towers. The first would be the 800-foot-high Residences at Mandarin Oriental. The 220 condo units would have two to four bedrooms, with the largest about 4,700 square feet. The building would be topped with a pair of penthouses, each more than 6,000 square feet. The second tower would replace the current Mandarin Oriental, hotel at 500 Brickell Key Drive. Swire developed that 326-room hotel in 2000. At about 400 feet high, the new hotel would feature 151 hotel rooms, 61 private residences and 28 condo-hotel units. The current Mandarin Oriental hotel would operate at least through 2024 before being demolished. The new Mandarin Oriental towers would be connected by a 100,000-square-foot amenity deck featuring pools, cabanas, work lounges, private dining rooms, restaurants, a spa and a health club. Kohn Pederson Fox Associates as the project’s architect and Tristan Auer is the interior designer for the condos building. Henry Bott is the President of Swire Properties.

Two developers a joint venture of affiliates of H.N. Gorin Inc. and Masterworks Development Co. LLC have filed new documentation with the Boston Massachusetts Planning and Development Agency outlining plans to build a 21-story full service, 300-room hotel and restaurant located at 39 Stanhope Street in Boston’s Back Bay area. Group One Partners is the project’s architect and designer. Copley Wolff Design Group is the landscape architect. Howard Stein Hudson is the project design engineer.

The building permit was issued for Choice Cambria Suites Hotel, at 165 N.W. Park Ave in Portland Oregon. It includes construction of a new six-story hotel and associated site work. The 90,000 square-foot hotel with 178 rooms will occupy half a block near the historic North Park Blocks in Portland’s Pearl District. The $26 million project is being developed by CH Portland Park Ave LLC. Deacon Construction LLC is the project contractor. The project designer is SERA Architects.

A new AC Hotel by Marriott is planned for Pasadena, California, from hotel developer Welcome Group Inc. The project a six-story, 194-key hotel in Pasadena’s Playhouse Village, would be completed in 2025. Planned to open at 550–566 E. Colorado Blvd., the modern hotel will feature a rooftop lounge, Peloton fitness room, event space and signature AC Lounge. Welcome Group also secured $37 million in construction financing, arranged by JLL Capital Markets. The AC Marriott will also be the only branded hotel in the Playhouse District.

Temple Town Lake a mixed use project in Phoenix Arizona that will include residential, office, entertainment, retail and 2 luxury hotels has secured $223 million of funding from Banco Inbursa for phase one to proceed. The multibillion dollar mixed use project from developer McBride-Cogen Management is being developed across 18 acres along Vista Del Lago Drive on the Tempe lakefront. McBride-Cohen and partners Cantor Fitzgerald and Silverstein Properties started construction on the first phase earlier in the year. The three apartment towers in the first phase are expected to be completed in the next 42 months. In addition to the towers in the first phase, South Pier will include more housing units and retail that will be built in subsequent phases. McBride-Cohen will build more than 2,500 units across rentable apartments, condominiums, along with senior housing and also plans two luxury hotels, more than 600,000 square feet of high-rise office space and a multi-acre entertainment district including restaurants, nightlife experiences, concert venues, fountain shows and a large Ferris wheel. Lee & Associates Arizona’s Bill Blake and Colton Trauter are handling office leasing, Western Retail Advisors is in charge of retail leasing and Greystar for management at the apartment towers. Construction cost are estimated at $4 billion for the complete build-out of South Pier. The project will total 18 buildings and construction is expected to last over the next eight to 12 years. Clayco is the general contractor for the first phase of the project while The Davis Experience is the architect. Loren McBride Cohen is CEO of McBride Cohen.

A new luxury resort hotel is being planned for the Caribbean island of Granada. The new hotel called the Beach House will be a 28 guestroom resort set on a cliff behind Granada’s Portici Beach. The hotel is being developed by the owners of the Silversands Hotel, a 43 guestroom property that was built in 2018. The proposed Beach House will feature a combination of one-bedroom villas and two-bedroom suites that will include both cliff-side and beach front accommodations.

A proposal project to redevelop the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Miami Florida is moving forward.  The current Hyatt hotel and convention center at 400 SE 2nd Ave will be redeveloped. The new $1.7 billion project known as Riverbridge will include three towers with the tallest at 95 stories and 1,049 feet. There will be 1,806 apartments, a 615 guestroom Hyatt Regency Hotel and 190,000 square feet of meeting space. Project partners include: Gencom, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Arquitectonica.
