Construction Progresses on Extended Stay Hotel

Construction is progressing on an Extended Stay Hotel at 6933 Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood California. Developed by Level Hotels the property will feature furnished units with an option of one or two bedroom suites. All rooms are outfitted with latest kitchen appliances, bathrooms with marble tile floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, and in-room laundry and walk-in closets. Guests also will have access to hotel amenities including 24-hour guest services, a two-story gym, outdoor heated pool, pet runs/grooming stations and a sports court. The project team includes: Labid Funk + Associates, Office Untitled, Massachi Industries, Henderson Engineers, Ketter Construction, RC Architecture, Onmi Contracting and Kennedy Wilson Properties. Level recently opened properties in Long Beach, California and Chicago Illinois. Level also has additional Los Angeles properties including: Level Downtown Flower, Downtown South Olive and Downtown South Hill as-well as properties in Seattle Washington and Vancouver, Canada.

Hyatt House Hotel Planned Near Walt Disney World

Developer Jumani Hotels & Resorts Inc., which owns the SureStay Plus by Best Western Lake Buena Vista at 8200 Palm Parkway in Orlando Florida, filed an application to build a 110-room Hyatt House hotel at 11901 Ravallo Resort Drive in Orlando. The 2.16-acre parcel of undeveloped land has Lake Street to the north, Palm Parkway to the west and Ravallo Resort Drive to the east and south as the roadway curves around the property. The Hyatt House is an extended stay brand which features full kitchens with dishwashers, stoves, microwave/air fryers, refrigerators and laundry facilities.

Mauritshuis Museum x LaToya Jones’ “Girl with a Pearl”

She won!!! “My Girl with a Pearl” will be featured at the astounding Mauritshuis Museum near Amsterdam in the Royal Vermeer room. Home of the original “Girl with a Pearl” painted by Johannes Vermeer dated 1665.

The Hague, Netherlands. The Mauritshuis Museum announced their Ode to the “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johanne (Jan) Vermeer. The museum has selected a few artist from around the world to showcase artist’ depictions of the “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” Over 3500 creations were submitted, less than 200 were selected. The museum also houses the most prominent paintings by Johanne (Jan) Vermeer, “Girl with a Pearl Earring” painted around 1665. People travel to The Hague from all over the world to see Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” and creators from around the world create re imagine depictions.

The Mauritshuis Museum houses the Royal Cabinet of Paintings which consist of 854 objects, mostly Dutch Golden Age paintings. The collection contains works by Rembrandt van Rijin, Jan Steen, Paulus Potter, Frans Hals, Jacob van Ruisdael, and several others.  www.latoyajones.com

Casino Plans Marriott Hotel Addition

The Parx Casino in Bensalem, Bucks County Pennsylvania plans to build a 13-story hotel with two restaurants connected to the casino. The hotel, at 3001 State Road, is expected to operate as a Marriott brand and will be connected to the casino by a walkway. It will have 300 rooms and a large banquet hall.  Construction is expected to begin later this year with a target for completion in 2025. One of the new restaurants will be in the hotel lobby, with a more upscale concept on the top floor. In addition to the banquet hall, an outdoor lawn will be available for weddings and other events. The hotel also will have a spa, fitness center and coffee shop. The casino is owned and operated by Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, Inc. The new hotel is being designed by Gensler.

Hotel Casino & Spa to be Renovated & Rebranded

The Water Club, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City New Jersey is planning a $55 million redesign and rebranding. The property will renovate its 757 guestrooms and suites and the Water Club will be rebranded as the MGM Tower.  MGM bought the Borgata in 2016 which opened in 2008. The property includes 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, two indoor pools, two outdoor pools and five retail shops. The renovation will add new luxury vista suites to the property the will include large living space and dining areas with a private bedroom and two bathrooms with wraparound views of the Atlantic City skyline.  Corey Sanders is the COO of MGM Resorts International.  MGM Resorts International Design Group and RVD Associates are the project’s interior designers. Travis Lunn, is President and COO of the Borgata. The Borgata includes 2,000 guestrooms, 106m000 square feet of meeting space, 161,000 square feet of gaming space and a 2,400 seat event center.

Casino Resort Plans Expansion

The M Resort & Casino in Henderson, Nevada whose is operator Penn Entertainment filed plans for a new tower at its hotel-casino, as part of a $200 million-plus expansion project. Penn submitted an application for a concept plan review with the city of Henderson that outlined plans for a new 375-room hotel tower, 40,000-square-foot convention center and multiplex theater at the M, located at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway at the valley’s southern edge. Penn Entertainment announced the $206 million expansion for the M in October. The second tower would add 384 rooms and 15,000 square feet of meeting space and it plans to start construction this year.

Riverfront Staybridge Suites Hotel Planned

Hotel developer Stellar Hospitality is proposing to build a Staybridge Suites hotel at 942 Front Ave NW in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 111 guestroom limited service property would be 5 stories and be built on a vacant lot on the west side of the Grand River. The developer is asking the planning commission to approve a waiver that would reduce the required parking from 83 to 44 spaces.  Jimmy Asmar is the project representative with Stellar Hospitality.

Three Story Boutique Hotel Proposed for Hatfield

Hotel developer Kirit Patel of Shield Hotels is seeking a special permit with site plan approval from the Planning Board to build a three-story hotel with an area of 6,200 square feet per floor and 35 guest rooms in Hatfield Massachusetts. The proposed hotel, is also expected to house 20 self-storage units located in two buildings on either side of the property. Jeff Squire, Architect with Berkshire Design Group is designing the hotel which would be located on 16 West St. It was originally constructed as the Howard Johnson Ice Cream Shop and Grille and has more recently been used for offices. The proposed boutique hotel will function as an overnight stay rather than an extended, and most rooms will have one or two bedrooms and there will be a king-sized bedroom. Shield Hotels is a hotel development and management company that provides professional services to a collection of hotels in the New England area and beyond. Their current properties in the area include the Courtyard in West Springfield, the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Holyoke, the Hampton Inn in Westfield and the Quality Inn & Suites in Northampton.
