Developer Shaw Resources is proposing to build a mixed use development that will include a 334 unit apartment building and 113 guestroom hotel and conference center with 7,800 sf of commercial space on 10 acres of vacant land on Sefton Park Road opposite the CATS transit station in Cornelius North Carolina. Jack Shaw and Don Shaw are the principals of Shaw Resources. The project is being reviewed by the planning board.

Developer Urban Catalyst is planning to build a TownePlace Suites extended stay hotel in downtown San Jose, California. Located at 491 W. San Carlos Street, this nationally branded extended-stay Marriott TownePlace Suites business hotel will be a short walk from Google’s Downtown West mega-campus. The eight-story hotel will be 185,000 square feet and offer 175 suites and on-site parking. Every room will have a kitchen. Developer Majestic Realty Company is proposing to build a 14-story, 541 guestroom hotel at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Georgia. Project construction is planned to start in July 2022 and be completed in 2024. The project cost is $350 million and will be branded as a full service Hilton.

The 62-room hotel and 80-seat restaurant proposed on West Napa Street, a half block from the Plaza, will come before planning commissioners as part of a project in an early-stage review. In addition to the hotel and restaurant, the project includes a spa with six treatment rooms, a raised swimming pool veranda and 130 onsite parking spaces. New to the plan is an eight-unit residential condominium building and the designation of seven existing onsite units as affordable housing. Hotel Project Sonoma is being developed by Kenwood Investments, founded by Darius Anderson.

Thornwood Development will soon begin building its second hotel in Germantown, Tennessee. The Germantown Board approved final site plans Monday for the sixth phase of Thornwood Planned Development, a 17-acre mixed-use project. The 114-room Marriott-TownePlace Suites will rise at the northeast corner of Neshoba and Germantown Road and include 5,000-square-feet of commercial space on the first floor. The 5-story hotel along with a 63-space parking garage and a 49-space surface lot will cover 1.2 acres and Ray plans to break ground in the fall.

Mitch Cox Companies plans to convert an EconoLodge Hotel at 207 E Mountcastle Drive in Johnson City, Tennessee to extended stay apartments. The hotel contains 130 guestrooms and will be converted to a 63 unit extended stay. The complex will include a pool, a gym and an onsite laundry facility. The developers plan to close on the property in September. It could take from six to nine months to convert the hotel into an apartment complex, although the timeframe will depend on how long it takes to acquire materials. The company also plans to touch up the exterior and interior of the building. Philip Cox is partner with the Mitch Cox Companies.

The owners of the Phillips Beach Plaza property in Ocean City Maryland are planning to build a resort hotel, conference center and restaurant and retail complex. The property is located between 13th and 14th streets from the Boardwalk to Baltimore Ave. The developers presented their conceptual resort plans that would be branded as a Margaritaville Hotel. The proposed Margaritaville project includes about 265 motel rooms, conference and convention space, restaurants and bars, indoor and outdoor pools and upscale retail along the Boardwalk. Jack Mumford is the project Architect. Becker Morgan Group is developing the project.

Construction has begun on the Newbury Hotel on South River Street in Coxsackie, New York. Aaron Flach is developing the project.  The first steel pieces began going up late last week and construction is to be complete by June 2022. Exterior work will finish by the start of winter when the interior work will begin. The hotel is part of a multi-phase development that will include an event center and wedding venue, spa, restaurant and other facilities. Once complete the hotel will be four stories with a roof top bar and seating area. Project partners include: Flack Development Project Partners, Empire State Development, Prestige, Bank or Green Country, Mazzone Hospitality, 3t Architects, Bishop Beaudry Construction and Camoin Associates.

Developer Lightstone Group is building an 18-story 303 guestroom, Moxy Hotel at 145-151 Bowery in the lower east side of Manhattan in New York, NY. The $130 million project is being financed by MSD Partners LP and Lionheart Strategic Management LLC. The financing was arranged by Meridian Capital Group. Tao Hospitality Group will manage the hotel which will feature multiple food and beverage concepts. Stonehill Taylor is the project architect. Winston Fisher is chairman of Lionheart Strategic Management.
