The Griffin Gate Marriott owners are planning a renovation of the hotel. The 409-room hotel on Newtown Pike is owned and managed by McWane Inc. and Highline Hospitality whose managing director is Chuck Pomerantz. The renovation will cost more than $30 million and will touch all aspects of the hotel, from the rooms, event space and public spaces to the restaurants, including, The Mansion, and the spa and golf course. The project will begin in November and take 36 months to complete. Douglas Development filed plans to convert the 12-story former Virginia Department of Environmental Quality building at 629 E. Main St. into a 210-room, dual-branded Hyatt hotel in Richmond Virginia. Plans call for 210 hotel rooms, 130 of which would be for a Hyatt Place. The other 80 would be Hyatt House. Douglas also has filed for a demolition permit for the project that calls for minimal modifications to the 98-year-old building’s facade. Balzer & Associates is the project’s engineer. HES Group is planning to build a Triptych by Hilton hotel project in Midtown Miami, it would have 297 hotel rooms, plus retail space . Aventura Hotel Properties, managed by Alberto Alberto Abilahoud of HES Group is developing the project. Jose Antonio Herrera is general manager of HES Group. The 20-story hotel would total 400,000 square feet at 3601 N. Miami Ave. and be managed by Hilton and includes a seventh-floor sky lobby with a restaurant, lounge, bar and pool deck; about 40,000 square feet of retail space; and about 17,000 square feet of meeting space. It was designed by Bermello Ajamil & Partners. Roost Charleston is planning a boutique hotel in Charleston South, Carolina that will also include 11,003 square feet of retail space. The property will comprise a newly constructed building as well as three redeveloped, historic buildings. Roost Charleston will offer a combination of standard hotel guest rooms and extended stay apartments. Amenities will include a restaurant, café, spa and an outdoor courtyard. The building site is located at the northeast corner of King and George streets in historic Charleston. King & George Street LLC, an affiliate of Method Co are partners on the project. Knighthead Funding LLC has provided a $30.5 million construction loan for the project. The Financial Center in downtown Des Moines, Iowa would undergo a $59.3 million renovation that would include converting 13 floors to an upscale, 190-room hotel and adding a restaurant, coffee shop and market on the first floor.   Lawmark LP, the owner of the 25-story Financial Center, located at 207 Seventh St., is also planning a rooftop bar. The remaining 12 floors would continue as offices.  The Financial Center was built between 1972 and 1973. Construction has started on a Cambria Suites Hotel in downtown Minneapolis Minnesota. JR Hospitality and Hawkeye Hotels are partners on the project.  Bob Patel is CEO of Hawkeye Hotels. Jay Bharkta is managing partner of JR Hospitality. The 100-room, six-story property will be located in the heart of Downtown Minneapolis at Hawthorne Avenue and N. 11 th  St and contains 1,300 sf of meeting space. A $50 million combination hotel and housing project at 233 Lake Ave. in downtown Racine Wisconsin. The project is being developed by Hovde Properties of Madison. The project would be a mid-level-service hotel with 100 guest rooms.   The Hovde hotel would be run by a separate owner/operator. It will be a three-star hotel, fronting Lake Avenue, that would include a small restaurant with bar. On the same acreage parcel, Hovde also plans to build two multistory apartment buildings totaling about 190 units. Hovde would own and manage those apartments with onsite management. Construction of a Hyatt hotel next to Buckhead Georgia’s Lenox Square mall is scheduled to begin and be completed is 2022. The Hyatt Centric boutique brand hotel is planned for an April start. The hotel will have 218 rooms and be 16 stories tall located at 3301 Lenox Parkway, and along Ga. 400. The hotel includes 4,500 square feet of meeting space; a pool and a fitness center; and a rooftop terrace, bar and restaurant, according to a press release.
