City council approved a site plan for developers to move forward on redeveloping the Red Roof Plus in Ann Arbor Michigan. The property on 3611-3621 Plymouth Road has two Red Roof hotel structures and a Big Boy restaurant. Developers plan to demolish one of the hotel buildings for a new six-story, 126-bed Hampton Inn and an adjoining drive-thru Panera Bread restaurant at 3611 Plymouth Road. One of the existing Red Roof structures will remain and be updated. Doraid Markus of Markus Management LLC is proposing the project, which would include a solar panel array on the rooftop. Markus owns the property under A2 Hospitality Property, LLC and plans to begin the project late this year.

The new owners of the historic Pantall Hotel in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania have plans to completely renovate the property and restore it to a high end boutique hotel. The property was recently purchased by Speakeasy Enterprises LLC and Duffel LLC. The project is in the very begging planning phase. Jessica Duffell is the principal of the ownership group.  The first steps they are taking is to evaluate the building and clean it out. The parking lot behind the building has been fenced off with a dumpster inside.  Duffell LLC is planning an auction for late summer of the contents of the hotel that will not be part of the restoration with plans to preserve and restore the existing infrastructure.

Two bond issues totaling $39.5 million toward redevelopment of a downtown Toledo Ohio Park Inn Hotel into two Hilton-branded properties were approved by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority’s board of directors. The financing package includes $30 million in lease revenue bonds to assist a public-private partnership in acquiring and renovating the Park Inn and SeaGate Convention Centre. The project developers are Continental Real Estate Companies and First Hospitality Group, Inc. The Park Inn project is estimated to cost a total of $64.5 million, and along with renovating the building into a 216-room Hilton Garden Inn and 93-room Hilton Homewood Suites and also includes adding a ballroom to the convention center, moving the center’s parking-garage entrance to Monroe Street from its current location on Summit Street, and a 120-seat restaurant. Continental Real Estate will complete the renovations which is expected to start late this year and be finished by the spring of 2022. First Hospitality, will manage the two Hilton properties.

Property owner Atlantic 3350 LLC, managed by Maria Laura Barbato and German Neuss are planning to build a mixed use tower to include a hotel, residential units and retail located at: 3300, 3308, 3322, 3340, and 3350 E. Atlantic Blvd & 15 S. Ocean Blvd in Pompano Beach, Florida. The site currently has a Walgreens store, a three-story office building and a small retail building. All of those structures would be demolished, although Walgreens would become a tenant on the ground floor of the new building. The project would total 647,925 square feet. The 21-story tower would have 77 multifamily units while the 19-story tower would have 110 hotel suites with 180 keys. The hotel is designed as an extended-stay hotel with full kitchens and living rooms. Some suites will have separate bedrooms and could be rented as two rooms, or combined into a single room. The pedestal connecting the two towers would have an 11,640-square-foot Walgreens, 10,602 square feet of retail and restaurants, and 328 parking spaces. There would be an amenity deck atop the pedestal with a pool, Jacuzzi, bar, restaurant and banquet facility. There would be space on the side of the parking garage for artistic murals. Richard Berrie, of Berrie Architecture & Design is designing the project.

Hotel developer Peach State Hospitality is planning to build a 175-room, 11-story Aloft hotel just off the Ashley River Bridge and across from the growing WestEdge development in Charleston South Carolina. Architecture firm LS3P Associates is designing the project which is now going through the design approval process. Plans call for 11 floors with a rooftop lounge and bar. The Marriott brand Aloft has been selected for the property.

The Westland Michigan planning commission approved a plan by developer John Hambrick to split the 16-acre Eloise historic property and convert a portion of it to a hotel and event space. The Eloise complex is located at 30712 Michigan Ave in Westland Michigan. A key feature on the redeveloped property would include a hotel and event space, with a 1930s-themed restaurant and bar in the basement. The power plant and bakery buildings on will be demolished, and the firehouse will become a public space. The facility was last operated as the Wayne County General Hospital, and halted operations in 1984.

Strand Capital Group LLC will develop a 22-story, dual-branded hotel in downtown Atlanta Georgia. The new Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham and Club Wyndham hotel will overlook Centennial Olympic Park and will be situated within walking distance of the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. The hotel will offer 200 rooms and is expected to be delivered in early 2022. The property will offer one-bedroom standard and one-, two- and three-bedroom deluxe and presidential configurations. The rooms will feature living and dining areas, kitchenettes or fully equipped kitchens, and a Frozen Concoction Maker frozen drink machine in the Margaritaville suites. An undisclosed number of suites will be reserved for timeshares. Upon completion, Wyndham Destinations will acquire units at the property and manage the sales and marketing of the timeshares.

The proposed Barefoot Beach Hotel on the north side of Bonita Beach Road has been approved by the city of Bonita Springs Florida. Council also approved a rezoning that allows construction of a 202-room hotel, complete with parking garage, restaurant, commercial space and less than 20 residential units close to the beach. Barefoot Beach Hotel is a 4.75-acre project on the north side of Bonita Beach Road between Imperial River Road and Okeana Street. It sits about 1.5 miles from the Bonita Beach Park entrance. The hotel rooms will be split between two buildings, one with additional retail space and another hosting fewer than 20 condos. A separate parking garage will fit behind the main five-story building to the north, shielding it from drivers on Bonita Beach Road. The hotel is designed by City Design & Graphics and is being developed by Hospman Hospitality Management Services LLC.

The Schuett Companies is renovating the residential units, basement and exterior of the downtown Bismarck North Dakota Patterson Hotel.   Schuett Companies received a historic tax credit through the National Park Service to restore the exterior of Patterson Place. The company will receive an income tax credit worth 20% of the rehabilitation project’s cost. Tom Schuett is President of Schuett Companies. The building is being restored to its historic character and as part of the project and the basement will be part of the Peacock Alley restaurant expansion. All 117 residential units will also be updated. AWH Architects is designing the project. The renovations are scheduled to be completed at the end of 2020.

The city of Manchester New Hampshire approved a plan to develop the long-vacant Parkade shopping center into a 23-acre mixed use hotel, residential and retail center. The $140 million commercial and residential project plan calls for 480 apartments, a 120-room hotel, 98,000 square feet of office space and 63,00 square feet of retail space on 23 acres. The project is being developed by Manchester Parkade I. The company’s principals are developer Michael Licamele, and Harry Freeman.
