A beachfront $1.2 billion casino resort hotel and entertainment complex is planned to be built on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi Mississippi at the Broadwater Hotel site. The UMUSIC casino resort will start construction in 2021 and be completed in 2023. The project is a joint venture between Universal Music Group and Dakia U-Ventures LLC whose chairman is Robert Lavia.  The project centers on entertainment and will be integrated with music, sports, theater and other elements. The casino is a key component of the resort but the company does not have a casino partner yet. The new development is the first of three hotels being built by Universal’s UMUSIC brand. Pyramid Hotel Group will manage the hotel.

A 151 guestroom Element Hotel at UC Davis is planned at 2200 Stockton Blvd in Sacramento California. Part of the former Coca-Cola bottling plant that was built in 1936 would become part of the new hotel and be converted into 30 guestrooms and the hotel’s public areas, meeting rooms, bar, restaurant and fitness center. The new 5 story structure will connect to the west end of the original structure and contain the remaining guestrooms. Developer Dan Lee of Leeland Enterprises is proposing the project. The hotel is being design by Stanton Architecture.

Hotel developer MB Hotel Partners, LLC has proposed to build a 162-room hotel with full alcohol service and a separate retail and office building at 600 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Manhattan Beach California. The site is a 65,419 square-foot lot with street frontage along Sepulveda Boulevard, Tennyson Street and Chabela Drive. The existing El Torito restaurant would be demolished. The hotel is set to be 81,755 square feet and the retail and office building will offer 16,348 square-feet. The entire project will include 158 parking spaces. The proposed hotel would be four stories with limited amenities for guests, including a small fitness center, business center, and meeting room. The project is in the planning phase.

Hotel developer Driftwood Hospitality is planning to build at 120 guestroom beachfront hotel in Melbourne Florida. The developer will redevelop a Brevard County parking lot located at 2605 N Highway AIA. Carlos Rodriguez Sr is the CEO of Driftwood Hospitality. Construction would start in the third quarter of 2021 and cost $40 million.  Bermello, Ajamil & Partners Inc is the project architect. No general contractor has been selected.

JDS Development Group is planning a redevelopment of a city of Miami, Florida fire stations into a mixed-use project in the Brickell area. A zoning application was filed with Miami-Dade County by JDS Development Group, led by Michael Stern, for 1 Southside Park. The project would total 2.48 million square feet in 64 stories. The property is located at 1105 to 1133 S.W. Second Ave.  JDS Development is also under contract to purchase the property at 191 S.W. 12th St. and 145-165 S.W. 12th St. Under its plans, JDS Development would build 1,175 multifamily units, a 110,000-square-foot hotel with 200 rooms and 6,000 square feet of meeting space, 200,000 square feet of offices, 100,000 square feet of health and wellness, 11,000 square feet of restaurants, 1,000 parking spaces and a new fire station. The architects of 1 Southside Park are SHoP Architects, ODP Architecture and Design, and James Corner Field Operations.

A new Hampton Inn by Hilton is planned for downtown Fort Myers, Florida. The four-story Hampton Inn will be on Cleveland Avenue, and will feature 118 rooms, an outdoor pool and patio area, a flexible boardroom and a fitness center. Built on a two-acre lot, the 65,000 square foot building will be an infill lot development that will take about one year to complete before it opens to guests. Construction is expected to begin later this month, after a groundbreaking ceremony. The builder is Firmo Construction in partnership with hospitality and development group, HOS Management. Firmo Construction and HOS Management will work with architecture and engineering team Base4 and civil engineering team Morris Depew on the project.

The 17-story, 395-suite Hilton Universal City at 555 Universal Hollywood Drive in Universal City, California is planning an addition. Construction is expected to start in 2023 and be completed in 2025. Mark Davis, chief executive Sun Hill Properties Inc. owns the hotel and is planning the expansion. Developer Sun Hill intends to add 395 new rooms to the 24-story hotel’s existing 495 suites by building the new addition on an adjacent site. The plan also calls for the creation of a parking garage that can accommodate 408 vehicles as well as a restaurant, conference rooms and rooftop pool. The hotel extension, designed by Large Architecture, will scale 230 feet high.

An eleven story hotel and water park are being proposed next to Circuit of The Americas in Southeast Austin, Texas. The project is being planned by developer Rocky Williams, president of Arm Epic Lodging Partners. The project architect is CallisonRTKL. The hotel will include, meeting and ballroom space with 508 guestrooms and is planned to begin construction in the 2nd quarter of 2021. The developer will bring on additional partners to complete the project.

A property just west of the Aventura Mall in Aventura Florida could be developed into a mixed-use project with office, hotel and retail. Star Holdings Management LLC, owned by Raphael Ammar of Ness Realty, filed an administrative site plan review application for the Gateway. Located at 2630 and 2600 N.E. 203rd St. The site currently has small office and apartment buildings, which would both be demolished. The Gateway would have 100,800 square feet of office, 7,200 square feet of retail, 167 extended stay hotel rooms, 21,760 square feet of convention space, and 492 parking spaces. International Design Engineering Architecture (IDEA) designed the project. The six-story office building would be the first phase and the 12-story hotel would be the second phase.
