Hotel Indigo Planned for Seven Mile Beach

The Central Planning Authority of the Cayman Islands approved the planning application for a new 10-storey hotel near Seven Mile Beach. The planned $80 million Hotel Indigo will include 282-guestrooms and is scheduled to open in 2024. The project is located about 700 feet from the high-water mark at Seven Mile Beach, south of the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa. The application for the project was submitted by the Dart-owned Shoreline Development Company Ltd (DECCO Ltd).

Zahn’s Building to be Renovated and Converted to a Hotel

Developers plan a renovation of the former Zahn’s Department Store on Monument Square in Racine Wisconsin that will convert the building to a hotel. The proposed Hotel Verdant renovation will start construction no later than July 15th 2021 and be complete in June 2022. The hotel will feature: a café/restaurant in the southeast corner, a banquet/conference hall, a bar, a meeting room, a large commercial kitchen, an oversized lobby, with a large fireplace, just inside the entrance from Monument Square. Christopher Adams, of Dominion Properties is developing the hotel.

Hard Rock Hotel to be built at Gibson Guitar Factory Site

Hard Rock Hotels plans to develop of a new hotel at the historic Gibson guitar and mandolin manufacturing site at 225 Parsons St., in Kalamazoo Michigan which is the founding location of Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co. in 1917. Dora Hotel, and Plaza Corp Realty Advisors are partners in the development. REVERB by Hard Rock Kalamazoo will embody the brand’s modern, urban design package, featuring traveler-friendly integrated technology, smart rooms, shared spaces designed for collaboration. The company plans to offer programming highlighting local music, food and entertainment.   The new build and conversion of the original Gibson manufacturing building, has an anticipated completion date of fall 2023 and will include a wide range of amenities for guests to enjoy including a Body Rock Fitness gym, bar, brewery/restaurant, banquet facility, intimate auditorium, museum and signing room where many historic artists signed contracts with Gibson. Andy Wenzel is Evexutive VP of PlazaCorp. Todd Hricko is VP of Hotel Development with Hard Rock Hotels. Tim Dora is President of Dora Hotel Company.

Churchill Downs Hotel Plan Moving Forward

Thoroughbred race track Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky is restarting plans to build a $300 million hotel and gaming facility. The project was put on pause in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, but will re-start in the first quarter beginning with $15 million for infrastructure work. The project will include a 156 guestroom hotel, 27,000 square foot ballroom, meeting space, observation deck, 900 machine gaming floor, sports bar, VIP lounge and multiple dining venues. Bill Carstanjen is CEO of Churchhill Downs.

Boca Lago Country Club Plans Boutique Hotel

The Boca Raton Florida Planning and Zoning Board will review an application to allow for hotel development at the Boca Lago Country Club. Boca Holdings LLC, owner of the golf course and country club, filed an application to expand the zoning of the property at 8665 Juego Way for a hotel to be built there. Boca Lago Country Club owner Steven Danza filed the application along with Linday Libes of WGI Design Firm. Developers say in the application that multifamily housing primarily surrounds the golf course and country club. This type of residential development limits the capacity to accommodate guests. A hotel, would house those guests. The future hotel would also include retail, food and beverage options. The Boca Lago community includes 1,828 residential units, a 61,600-square-foot clubhouse facility and a 210-acre golf course. The country club encompasses 547 acres of land.

Boutique Hotel Planned for Corktown

Plans for a new 227-room hotel in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit Michigan are moving forward. The proposed seven-story, $74-million Godfrey Hotel would be built at 1401 Michigan Ave., pending the demolition of a vacant building. The project is a joint venture by Oxford Capital Group and Hunter Pasteur Homes, and received approval Tuesday from the Michigan Strategic Fund to round out its future $5.1-million state- and local-level brownfield tax capture at the site as a development incentive. Once built, it would be the fifth Godfrey Hotel in the country, including locations in Chicago, Boston and Tampa, Florida. The hotel would contain a restaurant, a bar, a ballroom and a rooftop café. Seth Herkowitz, is partner at Hunter Pasteur and member of the hotel’s development team. The new hotel is planned to open late 2022.

30-Story Downtown Hotel Planned

A 30-Story full service Hotel is planned for development in a vacant lot downtown on the corner of Pine Ave and Ocean Blvd in Long Beach California by developer American Life. If approved, the lot would be transformed into a 429 guestroom hotel that would connect to the Long Beach Convention Center. The hotel is expected to cost $200 million. Greg Steinhauer is president of American Life. Construction would take two years to complete.

Extended Stay Hotel Planned Downtown

A four-story, 122-room extended-stay hotel would be developed south of West Bradley Road and east of North 124th Street under a proposal endorsed Monday by the Milwaukee Wisconsin city Plan Commission. The hotel would be developed by New Era Development Group LLC. New Era would begin construction by mid-year if the $10 million project wins city approval. The hotel would open by late spring or early summer of 2022.
